List of Morris Guthrie's Reviews
I cannot spew enough positive adjectives to describe Dr. Guthrie. He has been with my micro-premie twins since birth. They will be 12 years old in July. Needless to say, Dr. Guthrie is a gem. We will miss him, as our boys are too old to continue under his care. We will continue with his office just with another Doctor. This is the ROP doctor for your children, parents. Believe the hype. -M.Yo
Great Doctor!
Dr. Guthrie is amazing and great with kids. His entire staff is so Awesome!! I've been taking my son to Dr. Guthrie for 3+ years and everyone is ALWAYS so courteous, professional, kind and well knowledge. Highly recommended.
Had the best experience in this office. The staff is great and very helpful. I took both of my kids here to be examined and couldn't be more pleased. I will definitely be returning. I was a previous Dr. Kruger patient who made the transition here per her request and have been very happy with this entire practice. Great doctor all around.
I have complete faith and respect for doctor Guthrie. I took my son here for an eye exam and he was patient, kind and knowledgeable. My son has Autism so exam can be difficult but they handle his exam with ease. I couldn't be more pleased with this experience. I highly recommend this practice.
Dr. Guthrie and his staff are the best! Dr. Guthrie has been treating our daughter since she was born at 24 weeks back in 2011. We are so glad his office is now in Miami, but regardless we would travel for him to treat our daughter. Highly recommend!
I have nothing but good things to say about this entire practice. Both of my children have been treated here. I have a child who can sometime be very difficult at doctors appointments due to the fact he is delayed and diagnosis with Autism. This appointment was handled with ease. I couldn't be more pleased with this visit. This was my first appointment at his office and I will be going back. Thank You Dr. Guthrie.
I agree with the last review the staff is really nice, but Dr GUTHRY I would NOT recommend. As the last reviewer my son was a Dr. Kruger's patient and we were very happy there, once she moved we were stuck with this Dr. which I have to say is not professional at all! We were there for our first and last visit, my son has been dealing with strabismus since he was 6 months and never haD Dr. Kruger wanted to do surgery she always felt we should keep trying other methods like the patching and the glasses but this Dr, as soon as he saw my son said why do you keep patching obviously that's not working he needs surgery and even with the surgery it would only be for cosmetic purposes because he will eventually lose his site from the eye that crosses, to me as a mother to hear that in a cold hearted way was devastating, my son is only 4 so I left his office very upset. He was so pushy with the surgery and when i asked him to talk to me more about it he laughed like i was wasting his time. Never had Dr. Kruger suggested to do surgery she thought it was too early and we should keep on with the non invasive treatments, only as a last resort! So for him to come and insist on surgery and tell me that eventually he would need more than one because his eye could revert was enough for me to look for a third opinion and never go back to this cold hearted so called Doctor!! Now i have an appointment with Dr. Zenia Aguilera I hope this time I will find a more sympathetic Dr, that will educate me better without jumping to surgery and telling me that my son will lose his site. NO I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR!!
The staff is nice. Dr. Guthrie is nice. Overall, a good environment for kids. My son started seeing Dr. Guthrie because his old doctor moved (Dr. Kruger). He went to Dr. Guthrie for 3 visits, quite close to each other (approx. 4-5 weeks apart, which seemed excessive, but I did it) My son has a slight "lazy eye", nothing crazy. Initially Dr. Guthrie mentioned patching for 2 hours a day (long term) and wearing his glasses... and that surgery would be the last resort. So we started that August 1st. I came back for a follow up on September 17th (approx. 5-6 weeks later) and he suggested surgery (I was confused because he had told me surgery was a last resort). My son is 2 1/2 years old, so to hear he needed surgery was scary, especially since he would be put under anesthesia and the muscle in his eye would be cut during the procedure. I felt uninformed of the risks, I felt uneducated as to why he needed the surgery and ultimately, my gut just told me that this wasn't right and it was not in the best interest for my son to have this surgery. I felt compelled to take him for a second opinion at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. I took him today (September 21st), just 4 days after seeing Dr. Guthrie. The overall diagnosis was the same, he has a SLIGHT lazy eye. HOWEVER, no mention of surgery. I had to bring it to the doctors attention that my son had seen Dr. Guthrie on Monday (4 days ago) and Dr. Guthrie had scheduled my son to have surgery after only 5 weeks of patching 2 hours a day and only 6 months of wearing glasses. The doctor from Bascom Palmer told me she would not even preform the surgery even if I came in requesting it. That it was not necessary and that a lazy eye can be resolved using less invasive techniques (ie. patching for longer periods, glasses, etc.) I felt as if Dr. Guthrie was hungry for a surgery, at the cost of my 2 year old son. Bascom Palmer did inform me that some doctors are more "aggressive" and that may be why he recommended surgery so quickly. However, we are talking about a 2 1/2 year old toddler who is still developing, who still has his entire life ahead of him. Overall, I would not recommend this doctor and I highly recommend Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
Dr. Guthrie is a fantastic opthamologist for children! Dr. Guthrie and his team are amazing! They were so helpful to answer any questions and at times when I felt doubt, they reinforced those gaps with assurance that stood strong and true. Rest assured - if you have a child in need, even a very young child like mine, that needs to be seen for an eyesight problem - you are in GREAT and BEST hands with him. He cares about his patients. Highly recommended

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
