List of Motasem Al Maaieh Md's Reviews
I'm two weeks post microdiscectomy with Dr Al Maaieh. I have only positive things to say about him so far, and I don't expect that will change. Background: for 6 months I suffered from sciatica, extreme pain and weakness caused by a L5S1 disc herniation. Not impressed with the first surgeon I saw, I'm glad I found Dr Al Maaieh instead. Hearing me out, reviewing my MRI and evaluating me he said I'm indicated for and quickly scheduled the surgery. My anxiety about anesthesia and surgery was relieved by the professionalism of Dr Al Maaieh and everyone else involved. I couldn't be happier: having the surgery with Dr Al Maaieh was the best decision of my life. When I woke up, my sciatica was completely gone: fingers crossed it stays that way. Multiple nurses told me I made a good choice, that he has a good reputation and they've sent family members for surgery with him. That should say a lot since they know many surgeons working at the hospitals.

If you're not getting the timely care you expect from any surgeon, you need to proactively seek another, as I did before finding Dr Al Maaieh.
Best Surgeon ever. Brought me back to life during surgery. Listened to what I had to say allowed me to be included in decisions of treatment. Did my second surgery also. I consider Dr. Al Maaieh part of my family.

I saw Dr. Al Maaieh for one year and nothing was ever done. He would schedule an appointment every three months and each time changed what he would say. He never reviewed my chart and the visit was always short. I believe the main reason he did not want to help me was the type of insurance I have and my issue was to complicated for him to handle. My issue continued to get worse and I told him that too. Now it is so far gone that it is unrepairable. I totally blame him for the outcome. Avoid this doctor.
After years of looking for a solution to my back problems, I was advised to go to the University of Miami health system. Best decision ever! I met Dr. Al Maaieh and he took all the time to explain in detail my images, diagnosis and options, with the patience of a teacher educating his pupil. My husband and I automatically connected with him through his soft tone, his compassion and understanding of my pain, and definitely his knowledge about surgery, risk and results. The same day I scheduled my surgery. The procedure took place on Nov.15th 2017 and during the time at the hospital, he and his team and staff spent daily time making sure that I was informed about the post-op, continuously tracking my pain and answering every question (two and three times due to my pain medications Ha,ha! ). I hit the six weeks post-op time and came to see Dr Al Maaieh and again, he took all the time I needed to answer my questions about Physical therapy, reinsertion to my routine and review the X-rays ( by the way, it was taken at the room beside where I was waiting with the Dr. and posted at my file electronically in a matter of minutes! A+) Everything is in place and looking great! It's not easy to decide who can help alleviate , even cure our back problems but I found a compassionate, smart, nice, prepare, expert, understanding, reputable doctor, who with his team/staff and the help of the University of Miami Hospital, guided me to take the best decision ever in my healing process.
In our experience: Extremely, extremely long wait in the Miami office but not the Parkland office; absolutely impossible to get through to secretary or office, though she was very nice in person. They NEVER call you back, even for important test results! It can be very frustrating, to put it lightly. I can't judge doctor yet because it was a first visit, and he he had just finished a surgery and looked very tired... He may be a very good surgeon, and he definitely seemed nice enough. Update:**On follow up, he spent a good amount of time with my husband and he was satisfied. It is unfortunate for the doctor that the front office work ethic of Uhealth is so disappointing. If you can get past the office problems, he seems like a good and kind doctor.
The doctor really took his time to see me and explained what was going on. Very professional and knowledgeable
Had an appointment at UHealth Miami, his current location; he sent someone else to speak with me about my symptoms. I waited a long time before he entered the room after he received a recap from the person who spoke with me. Dr. Al Maaieh didn't bother to ask me any questions and simply told me with that he didn't know what was happening with me and that I should just try physical therapy and pain management. Spoke at me for <5 minutes & sent me on my way. HORRIBLE patient care; Avoid him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
