List of Nicholas Ferraro's Reviews
When I came to Dr. Ferraro, my thoracic spine was the equivalent of a jigsaw puzzle where half of the pieces had been chewed up and spit out, from both a congenitally deformed T10 vertebrae AND a severe case of osteomyelitis ravaging the ones around it. He was upfront about the risks and the overall prognosis, and about managing expectations - mine was a challenging case, and surgeons aren't literal miracle workers - but the surgery was a success. At only about seven weeks removed from surgery I'm obviously still recovering, but my pain level is at a 0.5, really more of a mild discomfort (down from a constant 8.0 before medical intervention), I no longer need opioid or even OTC pain meds, and will be better than new once all of my vertebrae have fused. The Rolls-Royce of neurosurgeons!
I have no basis of comparison to other neurosurgeons, but my experience with Dr. Ferraro has been excellent. He's responsive and has provided me with excellent care. He made me feel very comfortable and at ease when discussing my issues. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
I could not be more thankful. I was referred to Dr. Ferraro by a friend who both he and his wife were patients of his. Both had multiple spine surgeries by several doctors with no improvement. Dr. Ferraro was able to find out what was wrong and fix their problems. Knowing my struggles with past spine surgeries they referred me to him. From start to finish I was impressed. He reviewed all of my imaging with me. He showed me what was wrong and explained how to fix it. The surgery itself and recovery were not easy, but he was with me every step of the way. I sure hope I never need another surgery on my back, but if I do I know who I am going to.
I find it puzzling the experiences listed below. I am not discounting them, but I have had 6 appointments with Dr. Ferraro. Each appointment was only ended when I felt my questions were fully answered and all concerns were addressed. There has not been a single encounter that was shorter than 30 minutes in duration. There have been several visits where we just chatted about my life for several minutes at the end of the visit. The same is true when you are a patient in the hospital. Each of my nurses were surprised that Dr. Ferraro rounded on me every single day I was in the hospital after my surgery. They said most surgeons will see their patients only once after surgery, even if they remain in hospital for a week after. I can say without hesitation that my experience was excellent from beginning to end. I will refer my friends and family to Dr. Ferraro.
I also experienced the 5 minute appointment with no strength testing, review of my images with me or discussion about options. I explained my symptoms for all of 3-4 minutes and he told me to call his nurse to schedule surgery. NO WAY!!
I cannot praise Dr Ferraro enough! Dr Ferraro is a very skilled, talented, proficient & friendly physician. He spends time listening to his patients & customizes their treatment - not just a one size fits all doctor.
I visited his office upon recommendation from my rheumatologist for radiating pain from my lower back. He reviewed an MRI that was two years old, spent 5 minutes with me telling me I needed to lose weight and I’d be fine. Most of the time he spoke it was about intermittent fasting and how it’s the best way to lose weight. When I told him that most of my weight gain was from being on steroids for inflammation in my lower back and that exercise was not possible with the amount of pain I was in, he said that I needed to see pain management and lose weight, and if the pain was still the same, then I could come back to see him but not before. I’ve since been to another neurosurgeon who couldn’t believe doctors were making diagnosis off of 2 year old scans without having new ones since the symptoms were worse and now radiating.
Arrived at the ER in pain, was admitted to inpatient immediately. From the moment I met Dr Ferraro, I felt at ease, his bedside manner is exactly what I needed to hear, straight forward without pandering. Surgery went as planned and I would feel 100% confident if my own mother was in his hands. He even postponed his vacation to ensure I was taken care of post op. I owe him a debt of gratitude that I will never be able to come close to repaying! His knowledge and skill is unparalleled to any surgeon I've met with.
Dr. Ferraro is a miracle worker and my hero! He took this paralyzed Marine Vet and gave me back my arms, legs, feet, and hands!
Very professional, knowledgeable & answered all my questions. Dr. Ferraro posses a calm demeanor which serves him well.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
