I had a terrible experience. Incompetent doctors
AVOID if possible. Dangerously reckless irresponsible and incompetent. Do not subject yourself or a loved one to what amounts to the medical version of a three-ring circus. Retired fire rescue paramedic who has run thousands of every kind of call you could think of. Trust me on this one
Very disappointed
THE NURSE IN THE 9th FLOOR MONICA AND MARIAN WERE AMAZING AND HELPFUL UNTIL MY GRANDMAS LAST BREATH. THE SECURITY GUARDS ARE ALL RUDE AND HAVE NO EMPATHY . THE WORST EVER AS WELL AS THE MANAGERS AND DIRECTOR IN THE AM SHIFT . I HOPE NO ONE GOES THROUGH WHAT WE WENT THROUGH.
It is so sad to experience first hand the lack of empathy that the staff, especially the security and greeting staff has with family members of those who are terminal. My aunt was in her last hours and the security guards made it a point not to let family members in. Like robots Without empathy or common sense they would tell us that only two people were allowed six people during the whole day and that we couldn’t go in even if our family members were crying begging to let them see my aunt for the last time and say our goodbyes. We did have some sensitive staff members specially the nurses that were kind and would do their best to even pick us up from the lobby and take us to the room. However the security guard would still stop the nurse and continue to say that the limit of people have been exceeded. Unfortunately my aunt passed and on top of the sadness of losing a loved one we were also reminded of how humankind has lost empathy.
They have a ridiculous no child policy so if you as a parent or interns in the hospital have your own room your children can visit you and maybe brighten your day
I went to that hospital to follow a colon surgery on 8/24/22 driving by my self and in perfect health status with Dr Lawrence Sands and the hemicolectomy and anastomosis 3 days later started leaking and putting my life in risk on 8/29/22 they take back to surgery to repair that disaster then Dr cut my necrotic colon and perform another anastomosis but this time was open surgery so in 5days I had one robotic and one open surgery at this time I have abdominal abscess and I loss 20 pounds so thanks university hospital for lie about diagnosis and put my life in high risk.
Would like to start with the “Wins” - the Physicians and Surgeons are ranked among the top in the Nation; thus my star rating. BUT… the facility, technogy and staffing is beyond acceptable and should receive ZERO STAR. With millions invested in technology a Patient must check-in with 4 staff members before reaching the kiosk and then 2 additional staff members just to register; that’s the workflow if you valet park and are having a surgical procedure. Imagine that process if your health was failing? Not to mention the surgeons instructions said arrive early but kiosk stated “you are too early to register”! Epic Systems would pull their licenses if they saw this workflow. Then the facilites are the same, with a little paint (not much paint) from the Cedar years; UM purchased in 2007! The staff is not trained nor courteous and I can only assume this is based on how Management operates based on what I witnessed spending only 8hrs in a surgical waiting room; also far from acceptable. The so called “cafeteria” is filthy and they cover the trash cans with garbage bags so environmental staff won’t have to remove trash from the various bins, BUT making families walk around looking for trash bins after their meals. Signage is meant to confuse since many had to stop and ask for help. UM is my home and this is beyond embarrassing and I write this in an effort to initiate change since they cannot and will not compete with the other hospital systems in the area for much longer! Fix it and bring back UM to its glory!!!
The hospital registration desk and any other appropriate areas should have a Written NOTICE Posted: Letting patients family members/visitors know ONLY 2 Visitors are allowed PER DAY due to COVID safety precautions. Family members can rely message onto family and others to prevent additional mental stress. A wasted day from work, drove an hour, and couldn't visit my mother. Totally Unacceptable!!!
Horrible from the get. I came in with my 73 yr old Mom to do a procedure in radiology. I had brought a Dr. Note the first time we came here which was full blown COVID. They set it up where it has always shown up in the system. After about the 3rd time coming here, we came in today and the lady let us in with no problem as usual but Dejourae Williams decided that she was going to give us a hard time and she so succeeded. My mother doesn't know how to fill out forms and she gets panic attacks. That is why she has a Dr.'s note for this very thing. Infront of the door it says " compassion is our priority". Yeah right! And now they were soooo rude. These people are the worst hospital I have ever seen in my life!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
