List of Shark Bird's Reviews
Dr. Bird was excellent! He was very knowledgeable, took time to explain all of the procedures as he was performing them, and gave me additional follow-up recommendations when my health issue didn't meet his specialization. He even arranged for an alternative neurologist to contact me for an appointment. That was above and beyond the norm. I would highly recommend him.
Horrible. As other have said his bedside manner was deplorable. If you ask him a question that he believes is not his expertise ( such as are there cognitive issues related to MG?) he completely blows you off. He says see someone else. You are an neurologist! Give your opinion! We brought MRIs that he asked for , and refused to look at them. Earn your pay ! He is a complete bust. Stay away.
Best doctor for Myasthenia Gravis. He is one of the top experts, and it’s hard to find someone so experienced in this rare disease. It is true that his bedside manner is not great, but he knows MG, and helped me achieve remission. Personally, if I have to choose between a doctor with a great personality in the room, or a doctor who knows my illness and can get me better, I choose the latter. From my experience with MG, I suggest going with a major university-associated expert like Dr. Bird, instead of a neurologist who doesn’t see many MG patients. He is up to date on the most recent treatment options and studies, and speaking from experience, that treatment information can be life-changing.
A Very dismissive dr. His bedside manners are the worst. He does NOT listen to his patients. I can't recommend him.
Probably the WORST experience I've EVER has with any Dr I've ever seen in 48yrs. His bed side manners are nonexistant, in fact they're deplorable. Never in my life has a Dr ever blew me off the way Bird did. To tell me my Neurological Autoimmune disease (CIDP) doesn't cause muscle pain and neither does my neuropathy is basically telling me my pain is fake! I'm literally in pain 24/7 and for him to dismiss it is heartless! Explain my high inflammation bloodwork if I'm in no pain. Basically ignored that question. I felt an odd nervousness from him as well. I felt like he wasn't listening to me at all! then to tell me that I didn't have CIDP after I was diagnosed by 4 other Drs. 1 being another Penn Dr that my neuropathy was caused by too much protein in my blood. when told the neuropathy was there PRIOR to having high protein levels he once again ignored me. when told his colleagues felt differently he basically said well they don't know how to read EMGs. Is he for real?
During the exam, I was completely at ease; his concern for my nervousness and his professionalism was bar none.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
