Saw him in September 2022 found I had a hole in retina . Explained what needed to be done. I had to wait 2 months for him to do my surgery November 7, 2022. Saw him next day after surgery and 1 week later then he didn't schedule me again until February 2023. I had a vision change and called his office they couldn't get me in for 7 days. Went into appointment he checked eye retina hole open and now I had retinal detachment. He told me he could do nothing. He did refer me to another Dr that saw me the next day and the next day he had me in surgery. Stated retinal detachment need fixed immediately for best results. Told me straight out that he didn't believe he could heal hole in retina and hoped he could restore my perpherial vision. After surgery he saw me the.next day, 1 week then 2 weeks then 4 weeks scheduled again for 6 weeks and I have to have at least 1 more surgery. We says he will follow up with me long term and you know I Will !!!!!
Five years ago, my macular degeneration went wet with a sudden hamorrhage in one eye. I called Mid Florida and was able to see Dr. Maizel right away. At first look, he was not sure if he could save the sight in my eye, but he began treatment immediately and continued with monthly injections. Then my other eye went wet as well. The treatment has been successful and Dr. Maizel literally saved my eyesight. I recommend him highly. He is so knowledgeable and a nice person too.
Excellent Dr, filling satisfied with him.
Test was excellent, but Dr. Maizel was in and out too quick. Needed a couple questions answered but didn't get a chance. Called back and asked if he had left a prescription, and was told no. In the past he has been very good. Now I need to find an optometrist to see if I need new glasses. Gave him a 4, but was more like a 3 for this particular time.
My condition calls for a shot in the eye every 4-5 weeks. On my recent appointment, Dr. Maizel was not satisfied with the lack of improvement, so ordered a new drug which my insurance had to approve. A week later I received the shot using the new drug. He pays attention to what is going on with your particular problem, decides what can be done about it and proceeds with a decision to help.
I have been seeing Dr. Maizel for a few years since I moved to this area. He is excellent about explaining everything and answering any questions. I am very pleased with both Dr. Maizel and MId Florida Eye.
Great appointment with Dr. Maizel and the staff last week. A couple of specific points: First, they had my paperwork pre-filled. That is such a time-saver, and I appreciate the courtesy and respect for my time that represents. Second, they moved me through 5 different areas for tests, inspection, and documentation of the condition of my retinas and optic nerves. They were efficient and all the staff was really courteous. I love Mid-Florida Eye and Dr. Maizel. I highly recommend them.
Superb Doctor! Very efficient!
Dr Maizel has been monitoring my eyes' retinas for approximately 4 years. He is most eager to answer questions and discuss options. He has done a vitrectomy on my right eye to remove floaters. Never did he suggest when I should have surgery done, saying he would only do the surgery when I determined the floaters to be detrimental to my vision and I decided to have the surgery done. Mid FL Eye Center personnel and staff are absolutely fantastic!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
