I am appreciative to have my son be a patient with Helgemo and Liou Pediatrics. My son has seen both Dr. Helgemo and Dr. Liou as well as Kristy Carey, the NP. His main provider is Dr. Helgemo. I always feel my son is getting the best care possible and I know they care about his health and well-being. There can sometimes be a long wait, but it is only because they want to treat every patient with the care they need, and not in a rush to just get them in and out as quick as possible. Thanks Helgemo and Liou Pediatrics. I hope this practice will be around for a long time.
I consider it fortunate to be in the Helgamo / Liou family. My grandkids see an NP there, but has seen Dr Liou as well. They are healthy and don’t go often. They get the best care, and I don’t feel as though they are just pushing you through.
I believe Dr. Helgemo discriminated against me for being a single mom. He refused to allow my OBGYN to perform a circumcision and he didn't mention it to me. Maybe if I had a husband he would have treated me like a human.
The best part of a visit with Dr. Ben is his strive for what is best for the kids. The second best thing is his crazy shirts. The bright, colorful patterns are a hit with the kids. 10/10 best pediatrician is Charlotte County!
My sons have been seeing Dr.Helgemo since 2008 when we moved to Florida. We have always had a good experience there. As at all doctors offices there can be a wait, but you will appreciate it when your child is the one needed the extra time for a diagnosis! Friendly staff and great office helpers! Sad my oldest is going to have to find another doctor, since he's in college now!
I look at these reviews, especially the unfavorable ones. It is sad to know that when people have one bad experience with something, they take to the internet to bash. I have been taking my daughter to Dr Ben/Dr Liou for 11 years. Sure, times have changed. There are days my wait is a little , longer than usual, but I expect that. They are very popular. I have never met more compassionate Drs or staff, ever. I've never had an unpleasant experience, nor have I been treated poorly. Highly recommend
Terrible, no passion, receptionist(s) clearly hate Their jobs, lack of knowledge, no call backs, dirty, and scheduled time is about an hour off.
Patient since 2009. My experience recently has changed. Dr. Lou sees my son, which diagnosed him as having allergies. Although I have not heard any allergies giving someone a fever and coughing fits at night. To make a long story short. I take him twice to the pediatricians in a period of 2 weeks, which change from allergies to a cold. They tell me to give medicine, which I do. Nothing works, so I decide he needs to go to the hospital, he has pneumonia. They couldn't figure that out.
Used to be a great odoctor. Always friendly and had time for you. That changed though. Stopped having time to listen to your concerns. For years I knew something was off with my daughter but he wouldnt listen to me. Turns out she is high functioning autistic and if she had gotten help when she was younger she wouldnt be struggling now. She is to old for what is offered now.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
