List of Alain Alvarez's Reviews
Dr Alverez is an excellent Rheutoidologist. He listens and always knows what’s best treatment for high pain levels. The staff is wonderful. Highly professional and a beautiful office in a conveniently located of Davis Blvd In Naples. I recommend. I am full resident since retiring in 2015 and have been under his care.
Dr. Alain Alvarez has been the best, his advice has me healthy without pain and has a human quality! thank you Doctor
Have just visited once and found Alvarez concerned and knowledgeable. May know more later but feel good about him
I had a severe allergic reaction to a drug prescribed by Dr. Alvarez. He could not have expected this, however, when I called to discuss my reaction with the Doctor, his nurse advised me not to worry, and simply reduce my dosage from 4/day to 3/day. I was out of town, and didn't have the prescription information package, and could not read the drug warnings, so I heeded the nurses advice, and reduced my dosage. When I got home a couple of days later, I read the warning information, and found out that allergic reactions to Sulfasalazine can cause fatal liver damage. I immediately stopped the medication and went to have my preordered 6 week lab work completed. A couple of days later the Doctor's office called to tell me to stop taking my medicine as their was an adverse liver reaction!!! Duh! The nurse obviously had no clue that Sulfasalazine could be dangerous and/or didn't ask. I have no idea how much damage was done, but the Doctor's office didn't apologize. Instead they offered to put me on their own supplements that could help support additional profit for the practice. Imagine my reaction? They are no longer treating me obviously.
Dr. Alvarez is my third RA Doc. (I've moved a few times....) Overall very good. Dr. Alvarez and staff do the basic overviews and checks my blood test and gives me any updates. I'm comfortable with the level of care provided. Many RA doc's just come in the room and look at my hands or feet and ask a few questions....Dr. Alvarez actually takes the time to ask relevant questions (Am I able to do daily task....any new issues...how is my energy level....etc...). A few of the 'complaints' I've seen on reviews have to do with the scheduling....the phone prompts are a lot, but they are broken down if you listen to them to get you to the right person.Much more efficient than having a desk person take all calls. As RA Docs go, Dr. Alvarez is well above average. I would recommend.
I had an appointment with Dr Alvarez because I found out that I had the antibodies for a 4th autoimmune disease. Take into account that I am 19 years old and have 3 other autoimmune diseases and I was going for help with the new 4th one. When I made the appointment, I was told to arrive 15 minutes before my appointment and I was told that I would be sent some forms since I was a new patient. I never received these forms and I tried calling twice to ask about this but no one answered. On the day of the appointment I was running late and I tried to call to let the reception know, once again, no one answered the phone. Just as I was pulling in 5 minutes after my appointment had started, the receptionist called me to let me know that I missed my appointment and had to reschedule. "You were meant to be here 40 minutes ago" she said.I was never told I had to arrive 30 minutes before my appointment as a new patient. No one was understanding and kind about the situation. The whole experience was extremely stressful and added onto the stress of being diagnosed with a possible 4th autoimmune disease.
He’s quiet but very nice. and knowledgeable.
DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR. I am writing this review because of my mother. She is a patient of Dr Alvarez and she is in so much pain and she has not heard from this doctor in over a week. I am so disappointed and hurt by the pain I see my mom in, she even has called in sick to work the past few days. I'm not one to leave reviews but I am so disappointed and frustrated with this practice.
Very poorly run office. Leave a message or return their phone call and you will never hear from them again. They have recorded on their answering service "please only call once, do not leave more than one message". They should asK themselves why it is that people call multiple times. COULD IT POSSIBLY BE THEY DO NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS???? I have no use for such rude treatment. I can only imagine how many patients they are loosing. I would drive north an hour before I would return to their office.
I have been seeing Dr Alverez for almost 2 years and out of all my doctors he is the most compassionate, caring and understanding doctor I have. I’m extremely grateful for this as having RA can really take everything from you and he understands this. His bedside manners are impeccable, he is so hopeful and encouraging. The staff is also amazing. Yes sometimes you have to wait a while longer than the appointment time but I’ve grown to realize just as my last visit he spent about 20-25 minutes with me, and someone else was waiting well he spend quality time with me and I appreciate that so I’ll happily wait as he gives ALL his patient the same respect and care. I’m thrilled to have him helping me in my lifelong battle of RA.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
