Alex Chan's Online Review Report Card

He is the rudest doctor I have even encountered. Not willingly to listen to patient at all. He once prescribed any medicine to my husband, and told me there won't be any side-effect taking it, it turns out my husband was sick for 4 days after taking that medicine for one day only. We then gave him a call on Sat (his off-day) asking if anything can be done to ease the un-comfort. He called back asking why we have to call him as we were having an appointment on the next day in a very blunt manner. My husband took the medicine he prescript, hit 7 severe side effects on list, laid on bed for 4 days, with no sign of easing. I think it is extremely normal for someone to call the doctor in such a case. Never go back!!!

I'm shocked to see the reviews below. Dr Chan has been my family doctor for over 20 years. He's very attentive and thorough when diagnosing and treating an issue. Yes, the wait is long unfortunately, but there has to be something wrong if your doctor is available all the time and there's no wait to see them. I just ask the girls at the desk how many people are ahead of me and I assume each patient will take 15-20 mins and go for a walk while I wait. Patience is a virtue.

This doctor is honesty one of the rudest doctors I have came into contact with. Both over the phone and in person. He has no mannerisms, respect and professionalism to his patients. I called a few times for a reoccurring issue and he asked me why I’m so obsessed with this issue. Why am I seeing other doctors at other locations instead of his. He doesn’t like when you ask questions and he doesn’t like to listen when you give him answers to the questions he asks. This doctor shouldn’t be in the field and needs to not work with the general public, especially with concerning and personal health issues.

After read the reviews from the other and they rate the doctor at negative view that I don't agree with them at all. First of all, I would like to ask which clinic that you visit and ask for help that you don't have to wait. Secondly the staff impolite, so you blame the doctor office no good, common. Thirdly Some patients they like to ask doctor some questions that so nieve and rediculour. If that happen everyday to you. So you gonna be a nice guy? Pay annual fee, what's wrong with that? All you can choose, no one force youto do that. Remember, in a work place, the boss they don't make enough income, so you gonna have a good pay? My family and my in-laws and lots of friends at work have seen Dr. Chan and care our health more than 20 years. He is the best that we have ever seen. I live at North York, every time my family need to see Dr.Chan. I have to drive to downtown and wait to him that take me lots of time. I have no complaint about at all.

Worst Doctor I have ever encountered in my work. Doesn't care, doesn't listen, barely spends 5 minutes with a patient. Completely unprofessional and rude. I can't believe he gets away with treating patients like this.

He was our family doctor when we immigrated to Toronto back in 1984 but we transferred to another family physician due to ridiculous waiting time despite having an appointment. 30+ years later, Dr. Alex Chan's office hasn't changed in terms of patient treatment. He's still condescending and will only treat you nicely if you gift him gifts which I've seen patients bring to him. He also charges $50 if you have an old health card (which is still valid) + $20 as an annual fee. I've never seen any clinics/doctors ask for that. My 77 yr old father wanted to see him if he can help him with his hypertension and him and his staff made him come into the office to "see" the doctor only to be sent off if he didn't pay the $70 registration fee. He's not a doctor with ethics!

Average wait time is literally 2-3 hours, because he greedily allows himself to be overbooked to that outrageous degree. The $20 annual fee for all patients is also something I've never seen at any other doctor's office. Last straw was his condescending snicker, accompanied by a mocking comment of what did I have to be depressed about, when I spoke seriously about my long-term depression. Never going back!

Dr chan was very observant of my medical concerns and after finding a diagnosis he sent me home with the proper medicine to allow me still work my job full shifts without my broken nose bothering me. His staff is very nice and dr chan cares a lot about his patients! I highly recommend dr chan to anyone in NY

Very very rude/impatient staff. Secretary yells over the phone if you ask her more than 1 question then slams the phone down before you can even try to confirm/verify time of the appointment (which I believe is her job). Lengthy wait time minimum 3 hours on weekends only to be seen by the doctor for 5-10 mins. I'm not sure what the annual fee is for... The professionalism at this clinic is ridiculous.

Comments below are quite accurate. The staff is EXTREMELY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. They've been short on the phone with me and in-person almost EVERY TIME. Very frustrating when you have to communicate info. Wait time is REGULARLY 1.5 - 2 hours long -- go for a walk or do errands in between. Dr. Chan is fairly knowledgable, but he's sometimes negligent and not worth the wait. Too many patients. SWITCHING ASAP.
