I am a Laryngectomee and have been working with Dr. Bergin for 3 months. I have found her to be excellent in training me to speak with an electrolarynx. She is a no nonsense perfectionist who has vast experience and is very helpful in aiding patients understand different aspects of speech therapy. She is very pleasant and bends over backward to help her patients. I count finding her as one of my blessings in life.

She aborted the testing because I gagged. She had said she had another way of doing it with a scope which I preferred. When asked why she didn’t use that she said it was dirty and it would take too long to sanitize it and she would be late for her next client. She had no patience was very gruff. When I asked if she could explain what the first part of the test achieved she said no

Cathleen Bergin did a comprehensive exam for me which I was impressed with. She provided a business card which included her office phone number and email address in the event I needed to contact her. She also ordered special speech therapy for me.I had difficulty finding a provider for this therapy so I tried to call Dr Bergin and left a detailed message requesting she return my call. After days of no returned call I emailed her. Once again no response so I called the office again. I explained my situation to the office clerk who transferred me to Dr Bergin’s voice mail. Once again I left a message. I explained that I was not able to find a place that would do LSVT therapy but did find many that would do speak out therapy and asked if she thought that would be beneficial. Two days have passed and once again no response. I don’t understand the purpose of providing her business card with contact information if she is not interested in responding to questions.

Every time I have been to see her I have had over an hour wait one time it was 90 minutes. It tells me she is not very organized with her staff and her time. She just seems to ramble on about other issues instead of the one youre there to see her about.

Dr. Bergin is tops. I have a real speech problem that needed fast attention.She got me in and figured out exactly what was wrong and I was totally impressed.She definitely was one of my favorite all time doctors so far and I recommend her for sure.
