List of Laurence Higgins's Reviews
25 years ago I was in a bad car accident. (Drunk driver) and blew out my right shoulder. Dr. Higgins was recommended to me. From the 1st visit, I felt comfortable with him.. Had rotator cuff, torn biceps and labrum all scoped by Dr. Higgins. Happy to say 25 years later, I am still pain free and work out regularly with no pain. Now at 69 years old, I'm having the same type of pain in my right shoulder. Time to go visit him again.
He's smart, gifted, kind and seems to be horsehung.
I have had both of my shoulders replaced by Dr. Higgins. He is professional, courteous, and very focused.
After surgery while still in therapy went to appointment on Friday Dr. Higgins told me to call his office the following Monday when I did his secretary told me he moved to Florida I would have to find a new doctor.
My PCP send me to Higgins but I had to see his assistant first. His assistant, a woman named Kristin, was condescending and nasty. She gave me a wrong diagnosis too. Wasted months of my time before I could see Higgins. He ordered an image and the staff at B&W were awful and caused me so much pain. I asked my PCP for another referral. I went to Lahey and Dr. Marc Lemos fixed my shoulder. I do not recommend Higgins any more. He is a good surgeon but the process of getting to surgery is dreadful. If you run into his PA, that awful Kristin, run the other way.
My husband had a reverse shoulder operation with Dr. Higgins in December of 2015. The brachial plexus was injured during that surgery and my husband had no feeling in his left arm. I went with him to the one month check up. Dr, Higgins said “guaranteed 100% that will come back”. At the 3 month check up, no improvement, Higgins seemed shocked. He sent my husband to a nerve specialist and said he would call him the next day. No call ever came. He deserted him when things went wrong.
He is amazing he did A full replacement on my arm yes you may have to wait but I find that with all good orthopedics and he is so worth it I had surgery by another dr and he cleaned up my mess and he was recommend to me by someone he helped regain use of his arm that was told by two others that at the age od 32 he had to retire that nothing could be done so he is like bran new and so am I I feel if something went wrong it may be something you did yes you do wait a long time but every time I have been there all they say is how he helped them. So thank you dr Higgins and is staff is amazing. : Barbara LaMattina
He is a self centered person who cares more about himself than his patients. Never on time. makes his patients see PSA's and interns instead of himself. I would not bring a dead horse to him for care...
When I tore my same rotator cuff tendon again (suprasantis) 3 months after the first repair Dr K who did that surgery referred me to Dr Higgins then before I completed that recovery my bicep tendon came out of the grove my fault again then yes again I needed one more surgery scare tissue removed I always had problems with the postoperative recovered not the DOCTORS fault this was all on my right shoulder I now have full range of motion some on and off pain the first doctor gave up on me but Dr Higgins never let me down if it wasn't for him I truly think my right arm would be useless and he does listen to you and does not rush you I always saw a intern first but then you see DrHiggins waiting time can be long but it's worth it
Dr. Higgins is in high demand. Expect a long wait to see him. So what, pack a lunch, he's worth the wait. Dr. Higgins repaired my son's completely torn and severely retracted pectoralis muscle injury sustained playing college football. Two local surgeons said it couldn't be repaired and projected a poor outcome at an attempt to repair. Dr. Higgins, without reservation, confidently did a very complex repair with excessive scar tissue removal and cadaver grafting, long OR case with an expected long recovery. My son had little post op pain requiring no narcotics and breezed through PT. Within 6 months he had full ROM, no pain and full strength back in the weight room. At one year he is perfect. Dr Higgins is very skilled, his approach to my son at every visit was professional and he cared. His staff was also attentive and extremely knowledgeable. Excellent service overall. We did not experience any of the negative reviews below whatsoever.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
