The best, most compassionate Doctor Ive ever known

When we arrived for our appointment, I provided the POA and health care surrogate paper work to the front office person. We were visiting Dr. Justiz for a second neurological appointment because the first neurologist, Dr . Novak, told my mom, who has dementia, to stop drinking and come back in 4 weeks. He’d then see how she was doing. Unbelievable!! My mom has dementia and can’t even remember the two glasses of wine that she had the night before. Not sure how she was supposed to stop drinking when she can’t remember that she’s even drinking. Dr Justiz basically told her the same thing. He came into the room, and rudely said that I was seeking a second opinion. I explained to him kindly that I was not, that I was seeking help for my mom because she was severely depressed, because the dementia was making her very unhappy and unstable. Hence her drinking. He didn’t bother to get any back ground in her at all. I further explained to him our experience with Dr. Novak. Dr Justiz ignored my moms depression detailed in the survey they gave us at the front desk to fill out. He just tossed on to the desk behind him. Told us to see the psychologist at the “disco” (Discovery Village-the retirement living facility she was moving to) They don’t have a psychologist on staff. Told us he wouldn’t give her any medication because she is “to old”. She is 83. At one point he told me to “shush” even though I am my moms medical surrogate. He proceeded to ask her questions and poke and prod her without any explanation. He said she shouldn’t be driving. I tried to explain I needed help there. I was informed he could to write the DMV to have her license revoked. This is when he shushed me. He told her to go for a neuropsychological work up. Even though he had a very clear and detailed MRI explaining her dementia. We also had a CT scan as well. He casually glanced at the screens with the MRI on it and didn’t give it much attention. He walked out and never returned. He was rude to me, dismissive of my mom and lacked compassion. I do not recommend this doctor.

I have to say Dr. Justiz saved my husband from severe migraines. He took the time needed to get to the route of the problem. I can't thank him enough. Thank you for being an amazing doctor, who truly cares for your patients.

Dr Justiz is the best neurologist in town. He has been taking care of me and my family for years. He is brilliant and he explains things to you like no other physician has before !

Dr Justiz came recommended to me and the night before my apt at 505, after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment, I was told that he paired me with the other doctor. I told the receptionist that I did not want this and she said if I don't want to see the other doctor my doctor can send me a referral elsewhere. Very unprofessional and rude, especially the night before the morning apt! I moved my work and travel schedule around this appointment to make it work. Their office obviously doesn't have the courtesy they would want shown to them instilled on others.
