List of White-Wilson Medical Center's Reviews
I only gave 4 stars and not 5 because of the front desk. Scheduling has been excellent, I am able to be seen when I need to be and have very little wait time. The back staff and the doctors have been excellent. I haven’t left feeling like the PA or the Doctor just rushed through . But the front lacks courtesy. I wouldn’t say they are rude, they just aren’t pleasant. Perhaps I’ve caught them on bad days, but just a simple how are or have a good day can go a long ways. But overall I am happy with my care.
I apologize for this being so long. After testing positive for Covid on July 1st I started feeling better around the 5th day. On the 6th day I felt unbelievable pain in my intestines so I went to the ER. They ended up ruling it as colitis and sent me home with antibiotics. I went back the next day because of the pain and being so dehydrated. Afterwards I went home and started slowly feeling better. I didn’t have a primary dr so I decided on here to make an app in hopes they would refer me to a GI specialist about the colitis. After 10 days of antibiotics from the Er I finished them. Later I went to immediate care here at White Wilson in Niceville for a presumed blood clot. The app was at 8:30. They didn’t have ultrasound there so they sent me to ft Walton. They did the ultrasound and it was a superficial blood clot. I waited for the office to call and they finally did after I called several times. They ended up saying “If you want to you can take baby aspirin and do a warm compress”. That was no problem so I did. Never having had a blood clot I wasn’t explained anything so it was still scary. The following week was my first app to be an established patient. I ended up seeing Meghan Lanzola NP. After explaining everything in full detail and being nervous about still being as sick as I was and feeling hopeless she said “Thats Covid for you” and “you should drink more water”. At one point I was trying to ask a question and I was cut off. After explaining something that very much wasn’t normal I was also told “Well it’s only happened once so I’m not concerned yet.” She then put me on two more antibiotics lasting 14 days after having been on antibiotics for 10 days. I understand the charting process but I had almost no communication the entire appointment while she was on the computer majority of the time. I made a follow up app with dr Barnes and he was booked out over a month. How is anyone supposed to find answers when they are sick that long? I left the appointment in tears. The only things I feel that were done right was a referral to a GI specialist and lab work. I sent a message through the patient portal about my White blood Cell count being low and being on antibiotics and all I got back was a “Good afternoon, Meghan said to continue your antibiotic as prescribed.” So here I am, still very sick.
Repetitive problems with misdiagnosis or calling in the wrong prescriptions. We have had issues with adult and peds sides and multiple times have resulted in hospitalization or ER visits after unsuccessful appointments. Go literally anywhere else possible.
I went in this morning with what I believed to be a severe urinary track infection (UTI). The nurse, Sharon, and PA, Meagan, were exceptional - very professional and knowledgable. Meagan explained my inability to urinate and burning sensation could be due to several things - UTI, kidney stones, prostate. They took a urine specimen and said they would call with the results in one hour. I was in a lot of pain and wondered why they didn't give me an antibiotic for UTI, since that was the most probable cause. If it turned out to be something else, I would have only taken one pill. Two and a half hours later - no call. So I tried calling them to find out the results. The auto phone messaging had me push "4" to get results of lab work. When I did, I got another phone message to leave information and they would get back to me within 72 hours! Ridiculous. So I drove back down there and asked what the results were. After 10 minutes, Sharon came into the lobby and explained that the lab went down and just came back up. Results? UTI. They called it into Wynn Dixie and I picked it up. My criticism of this whole encounter is that White-Wilson appears to have turned into a "business as usual" organization. While the people that saw me were great, there didn't seem to be any follow-up on anyone's part. After one hour, someone should have contacted me. And the phone system appears to be designed so that you can't talk to anyone live. Usually I get great service. Hopefully this was a one time thing.Four days later I returned to Immedia Care. The medicine prescribed had no effect on the UTI. Absolutely miserable 4 days - no sleep, extreme burning when urinating. Saw PA Janet. She was fabulous! She checked on my previous lab and said that the OTI was known resistant to the medicine prescribed. She gave me a new prescription, ciprofloxacin, which I filled right away. The same Pharmacist gave me the new prescription and said that she was surprised this wasn't given to me first, that it was the typical medication used for UTI.After one day on cipro, I feel much, much better and on the road to recovery. Thank you so much, PA Janet. The first day on cipro was Monday before Christmas. On Wednesday, I had finished with the 3 day supply that PA Janet had provided. I thought that was a little short to completely recover, but I figured she knew best, and perhaps since I had already taken 4 days of the other medication, this was all that was needed. On Friday (Christmas night) I awoke to soaked bed sheets from a fever that broke. I felt the UTI was returning and planned on going back to Immedia Care Saturday morning. But on Saturday morning, I received a call from Wynn Dixie that a prescription was waiting to be picked up. So I went to Wynn Dixie and found that a seven day prescription of cipro had been called in the previous Tuesday by PA Meagan. Evidently, she must have received the lab culture and discovered that my infection was resistant to the medication she had prescribed. But no one had ever contacted me that there was a new prescription. So I had gone three days without cipro after taking it for three days. I knew I needed to start taking it again - but was I really supposed to be taking it again for an additional seven days? I went back to Immedia Care on Monday to get that question answered and find out why no one had contacted me about the new prescription. A nurse called me that evening and said that I should take cipro for a total of seven days. So I took the new prescription for four days only and recovered fully from the UTI. There is definitely a problem here that Immedia Care needs to sort out. I appreciate that everyone was trying to help me but here's what normally has occurred in the past. I went in with a UTI. I knew this was the case, as I have had them before. I should have left with a seven day prescription for cipro, and everything would have been fine. Instead, I left with nothing but a promise I would be contacted within the hour. The following week was a nightmare.
I had heart surgery shortly before moving to FL. I made an appt with Dr Barnes in order to get a referral to a local cardiologist for follow up. I didnt hear anything for weeks, so I called and left a detailed message for the referral line. Nothing. 2 weeks go by, so I decide to just speak to reception. I was informed that not only was the referral never made, he didnt even included in my chart that it was requested (despite having a life long heart condition). I was then told i would need to come back in, be charged an office co pay and meet with one of his PAs to get my referral. Im not even going to get into my poor experiences with my kids in pediatrics. This place looks nice, but is one of the worst run family practices i have ever been to.
Poor treatment to PTSD Veterans. Horrible disregard to providing any care whatsoever, and still charged me when no care or treatment was provided AND I had already met my deductible. I have never felt so insulted and punished because I am a Veteran who rates VA healthcare benefits and also a Active Duty dependent Tricare beneficiary. This clinic i is not military friendly, nor do they support Veteran's medical needs. I request a call back since sending a message to your email. I prefer to speak with White-Wilson CEO Alan Gieseman, personally.
I have only been seen twice but I am less than impressed and happy that I switched doctors. To start, getting an appointment in with Dr. Barnes can take months. I called to schedule an appointment in Jan and could not be seen until March. I settled for an appt with his PA as it would have been another month or so trying to get an appointment with Dr. Barnes. I was hoping that his PA would at least be able to consult him and help me get some answers but sadly this wasn't the case. I addressed a lot of health concerns and struggles and while she is pleasant enough, I felt I was being patronized and dismissed. My bloodwork order was supposed to be sent to Quest Diagnostics and 5 days later when I went in, it still had not been sent over. I had to call White Wilson and make them fax it. My bloodwork came back for abnormalities and I was informed that I would be called to schedule an appointment if there were any abnormalities to discuss but I never received a call. Additionally, my bloodwork was supposed to include tests for my hormone levels which never happened. Luckily I press forward with a new doctor who actually listens, followed through with testing and is helping me get some answers.
We're always able to get an appointment in a timely manner. Most of the time for the same day. Dr Kyle Simmers is our main pediatrician and he is great with our son and answers all our questions. Friendly and helpful nurses.
If I could give negative stars to this practice I would. Waited 2 months for a doctors appointment because they have a "shortage" of doctors. I don't think that is the right term, more like turn over, only for them to schedule me after hours on a holiday! Called to reschedule only to hear it will be another month. I asked the staff to have someone call me back in regards to this never heard anything. Switching doctors this place is complete trash
Have been wonderful with my 3 teens. Dr. Simmers is great. He is patient and doesn’t rush you. Staff has always been helpful especially with my son’s disability needs, referrals, forms, etc.
