List of Adam Alpers's Reviews
My how things have changed since my last review. Nobody answers the phone anymore, the recorded message by the Medical Assistant says she will call back when she has time. She has NEVER returned any of my messages. My appointments with Dr. Alpers himself are fine, I've been his patient for several years, but I'm strongly considering making a change because the way I'm treated by his staff has become unacceptable.
Dr. Alpers deserves straight F's. Failure to treat a patient that he accepted into his primary practice. Once my 94-year-old, homebound mother was admitted into Hospice Home Care, he denied her care and refused to make home referrals for regular checkups and vaccinations. Hospice is not equipped to offer medical services unrelated to a terminal illness. Medicare's Advantage program explicitly states it is the responsibility of the Primary Doctor to continue non-terminal medical care. Alpers erroneously claimed that he was bound by insurance rules to refuse non-terminal care once his patient was admitted to hospice. If you're looking for a Doc to care for your family members, stay away from this character.
Desperately needs to update his website. Information on web & information from very rude receptionist totally different.
Lets see. We have Thanksging than somehow Black Friday was thrown in the mix as a holiday too
I've seen Dr. Alpers since 2007, at times via an Assistant Physician or an AP trainee, as he manages AP, from his alma mater, the University of Des Moines. He is not currently taking new patients.
VERY RUDE Med. Asst... NEVER again. What about Dr. Alpers? An honest opinion is... he's maybe a 5 on a 1-10 scale. Nothing great, but not horrible. Maybe just average. It's his Med. Asst. (name started with an M... not sure if he has decided to keep her around. Can't imagine allowing her to speak to patients the way she did). She was the final straw. I tolerated her at first... we all have bad days. But she was so crass each time I was there (only a few) and the last time was unconscionable. I can't fathom why Dr. Alpers was keeping her. She could have been the only issue and I would _never_ go back. But... unfortunately there were other issues... The front desk staff entered my info incorrectly which took 6 times to get correct (seriously). I also requested a copy of my records and 4 pages were missing. Requested again and still never got it all. The only positive for me there was one lady that worked in the front desk area (at the check out) that was helpful and did her best, but unfortunately, the rest of my experience there was so bad, I can't go back just for the nice check-out lady. And yes, I DID try to resolve this - each time I was there. To no avail.
one of the best compassionate care givers in the business
My husband and I used Dr. Alpers, and have been extremely pleased with his diagnostics, and his personalized care. He even called our home at night, personally, to check on my husband. We have and will continue to recommend him.
It's great that they have a full arsenal for diagnostics. Dr alpers refused care to me because I "was not happy" to be there. Ridiculous-
After going to a doctor for years, his group decided to just accept one insurance plan. I researched doctors in my area and found Dr. Alpers and we have been extremely happy with him. It turned out to be the best thing for us to have to change doctors. Dr. Alpers is wonderful about spending time and answering all questions and I like his nice personality. We are glad that he is our doctor.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
