Leonik A Ahumada's Online Review Report Card

I’m new to the area and a 2x breast cancer survivor. I am looking to establish my team of doctors in the area. This said, the other day I went with a friend from church, who is currently being treat by Dr. Leonik Ahumada, MD, FACS. Dr. Ahumada is the worst doctor I’ve ever met. He has no bedside manner, empathy, professionalism and plain just AWFUL!! My friend who is suffering from issues with her treatment and had to undergo an unnecessary emergency surgery while out of state because Dr. said she was good to travel even though he was fully aware of the problems with the reconstruction. I personally witnessed his demeanor towards her. He walked into the exam room and just ask so how are things going. As she tried to explain what happen that requires emergency surgery and the results. He didn’t even wanted to exam her until she asked him if he wanted to see? His presence was like “not really ” but he did but said nothing to help boost her esteem. She also mention once she heals from all the scars and the removal of the other extender she would like to review another treatment such as trans flab, latissima surgery instead of extenders and implants. He responded, “all those surgeries take long hours of surgery and she could not be able to tolerate them and she should accept the possibility of not having any reconstructions at all.” What Dr. would say such thing to someone who is so broke and heartbroken. Anyone undergoing cancer treatments and reconstructions should not be talked to as he did. I had to intervene and said What she was asking for is not for cosmetic but for mental health. Women’s breast is a mental health issue for all women. I further asked him how would he feel if a doctor told him they were not going to reconstruct his private parts because he won’t need it? She is now admitted in the hospital because the extender shifted and it hurts and dangerous crossing her chest. Dr Leonik Ahumada, MD, FACS did not appear at the hospital after she was there for at least 24 hrs without eating anything all day just to let her know he would not be preforming the surgery to remove the painful extender until Monday or Tuesday because he did not consider it an emergency!!!😳😳 Again, how about some medical ethic and compassion! If it wasn’t serious why would she be admitted? The lack of caring and empathy and bedside manner is beyond words. My GOD! As a 2x breast cancer patient, I implore you all DO NOT use his services. Update: Since that last meeting, she was admitted to hospital because the only expander left shifted and was causing her chest pain. The first one, Dr. Ahumada left in knowing she was not doing to well with it and he draining it manually. The expander eventually pushed through the skin and she had it emergency removed not before she found out she also had an infection. Dr. Ahumada knew she had been hospitalized on Wednesday and the hospital nurses had been calling his office to find when he was coming to see her and he said “he wasn’t planning to come.” He showed up at 10:30pm on the second day just to let her know “this was not an emergency for him and he will do surgery on Monday or Tuesday.” Almost a week after being admitted. Surgery Day: he showed up ½ hr late. She told him I would be in the waiting area so he can tell me what he did and further instructions. HE NEVER TALKED TO ME OR HER. In addition, he never came back or give further information. She was release from the hospital today with knowing anything. This Dr. Ahumada is inhumane and should not be allowed to continue with his practice EVER!! Talk about sucker punching a person when she the most vulnerable.

Recently had breast lift and augmentation by Dr. Ahumada after years of contemplating. Not sure if I was making the right decision due to my age (71). Initial consult very informative. Did lots of research on You Tube. Proceeded ahead with NO regrets. The entire staff is courteous, professional and oh so responsive to ALL requests. With certainty, this is a TOP NOTCH practice. My thanks to the entire staff!

Everything thing was as described by the the attending nurse. Dr did a great job on tummy tuck and great results

Dr. Ahumada, his Nurse Nancy and ALL of the staff were absolutely amazing from start to finish. Not to mention I’m 3 weeks post op (tummy tuck w/lipo) and I’m still in awe how seemingly perfect my results are . I’m thankful I chose Ocala Plastic Surgery and Dr Ahumada. Professional , sense of humor and overall great experience!

Dr.Ahumada is a fabulous surgeon and person. I had surgery 7/22 and he was amazing. Nancy his nurse is to be commended for her caring of her patients. Kari is wonderful and always treated me like family. I highly recommend Dr.Ahumada and his staff for your surgical needs. They are the best of the best!! Kudos to Sarah one of the schedulers as well. Thanks to all of you for your care! You truly care about patients!!

As a health care provider I recognize great care when I see it. Dr Ahumada preformed two surgeries over three years. The results are fantastic. I would strongly recommend this doctor for your surgical needs.

Dr Ahumada has the best bedside manners. He was very patient and understanding through the whole process. I'm very happy with my results. I have been sending all of my friends to him. I would only go to him with any of my future needs

I had 2 procedures performed by Dr.Ahumada both are very bad. Why did I have 2, the first was on my nose which was not healed when I was scheduled for reconstructive surgery due to a Mastectomy. Hence I did not know how bad that would turn out. He probably does Breast Augmentation successfully,however reconstruction is different. Now, I have no recourse but to live with this botched surgery he performed. I was a patient of Dr. Asokan that retired, I was told Dr. Ahumada was brought in to fill his shoes. There is no way he compares. I have many friends and relatives that had procedures by Dr.Asokan none of them ever dissapointed. I am in search of a reputable Plastic Surgeon in Gainesville as I dont feel we have one here anymore.
