When I need help the most in a crisis, they abandoned me. I told them I was suicidal and my plan. Dr. Byrd and Scotty Lusk sent me home. Then they wondered why 3 days later I attempted suicide. After that they discharged me from the practice and served me with a trespass warning. Was that really necessary? I should have sued them for malpractice. In 10 years there, I had never told them I was so suicidal that I had a plan. I wasn't thinking straight and make good decisions, so I didnt want to go to the hospital. They should have Baker Acted me. Not send me home. They never even called to check on me. I guess they are used to getting away with this sort of thing and no one has taken action. Sad.

One day they are going to get sued and the patients family will put them out of business. What ever happened to the portion of The Original Hippocratic Oath that says, "...I will do no harm or injustice to them"? Dr. Byrd and his entire practice should be shut down, in my opinion. I pray to God that no other patient has to suffer thru something like this.

Dr. Byrd truly cares about the overall well being of patients. He is kind, caring, and compassionate.

The first time I walked into Dr. Byrd’s office, I was suffering from depression, low self-esteem, and an eating disorder. Dr. Byrd treated me as an inpatient and outpatient for many years, and always with respect and fairness. Did he only tell me what I wanted to hear? No, but my family had done that for years with no success. He cares for his patients and knows precisely the treatment they need to get better. I’m surprised at the reviews that call him condescending because that is something I never experienced in my years of treatment with Dr. Byrd. I am very thankful that I found Dr. Byrd and Ocala Psychiatric Associates when I did.

I have been a patient for eight years. They are warm, friendly and very professional. I recommend them all of the time.

Dr byrd charges outrageous price for a few minutes of his time. He prescibes the message you have been on before, putts no thought into it and then makes it difficult to get refills( does not give enough till next appt. He is the only psychiatrist in the ocala area and charges 2.5 times the rate of others. I told him the medication I needed and he charged me 575 for the first visit. They close days before holidays and you are left with no refills and no way to get them and you suffer.

Dr. Byrd and his staff are as good as they come. I look forward to coming to see them each month. Dr. Byrd is compassionate about what he does, truly cares about his patients and knows his stuff!!! No better place to go than Ocala Psychiatric Associates!
