Been seeing this doctor for 30 years, along with other members of my family..... I run an air conditioning company and was out in the out in the field in Port Saint Lucie the day of my appointment. I was running late. I called to let them know, and was told to let them know if I was going to be later than 15 minutes late. Hitting construction less than .5 mile a way at 5:17 I called and told the staff that I was trying to get there. At this point I was informed that Dr Leffler already left for the day. Trying to inquire about why I wasn’t informed sooner that I’m SOL after 15 min the woman became combative and hostile. I explained that I would like Dr Leffler to call me and she quickly quipped that he’s just a doctor now, he no longer owns the practice. She offered the manager and was delighted to get me off the phone. I began speaking to the Manager and she asked if other doctors see me if I’m running late, I said absolutely, she said she must need new doctors than. She then went on to explain that the doctor sold his practice in 2018 and that he just works there. I asked her to have Dr Leffler call me and she felt the need to remind me that they didn’t force the doctor out at 5:15 but that he walked out hurriedly on his own accord. She has a point. After 30 years of my family’s money spent helping to provide him a living we are all on our own. Gone are the days where you have a relationship with your doctors and are shown that you are valuable as a patient. It hurts to know that after that much time he couldn’t wait but I am sure whatever he had going on was more important to him. I’ve heard from so many people how practices churn out patients in high numbers and that we are just tickets with underlying value, just in this case it’s dollar signs. After today the most accurate thing to I can say is. “This isn’t the same eye doctor practice that it used to be. And I don’t feel it went in a positive direction. Things change whether we like it or not, this is true. So it is time to find a new eye-doctor.

I am not sure what to do. I find Dr. Leffler fits my eyes very well. Although in my last exam, I felt like Lucille Ball in the candy factory. Everything was hurry, hurry. The prescription turned out fine. (I have lazy eye.} However, the spring on the temple snapped. To my amazement they could not repair them at the store. Luckily, I had insurance. They ordered a whole new pair of glasses for me. I was not happy. The reason I am not sure whether to return is I find too many office workers with no place for customers to be helped. I do not think trying to fit a person over the front counter is appropriate. In addition, working over the intake machine does not work well. I found a big difference from my first visit, two years ago, to last year's one, after the office went with the mega company out of the Carolina's. I have worn glasses for over 70 years and have had good doctors and not so good but do not remember getting so frustrated as I have for the last year. I guess it is a work in progress. Shirley K.
