List of James P Donovan's Reviews
I had a really good outcome with my right knee with Dr.James P.Donovan. The surgery went really well.
Dr Donovan and his staff are amazing . I had been suffering for many years with shoulder pain. I had gone to several Drs with no relief. He was thorough and explained my options. I had a reverse shoulder replacement, out patient 6 weeks ago. I am out of pain and back to work a week later. I am rehabbing and they too are amazed at my progress. I had had 5 motorcycle wrecks, a skydiving accident and had been an iron worker for years. I am 66 years old and pain free.
I had a slip and fall accident up north in feb 2018. I broke my right wrist, left elbow and hurt my back. I had surgery right away up north, they put clips in my wrist. When i moved to Florida, I seen Dr James Donovan because I was in so much pain. Dr Donovan Decided to operate and He took the clips out. He did not even speak with me about what was done. His practice tried to overcharge me several times. They had to reimburse my money. Years past in 2022, I could not move my arm at all. I tried to contact them to schedule an appointment and what do you know there trying to say I owe a copay. This dr didn’t even do a follow up or an mri to see what other issues there could be. When I was turned away. I went to Orthopedic specialists in Pal Harbor and i saw Dr Brian Williams. He did an mri and told me my fracture never healed and he sad it was a mess. He gave me options: injections, fusion or wrist replacement w/ wearing a cast for 2 months.
Dr Donovan performed my shoulder surgery to remove inflamed tissue and repair torn ligament in Dec 2020. The outcome is better than I hoped for. The aching pain is gone, and the shoulder feels completely normal. He was professional and courteous during my appointments and follow-ups. I saw Dr. Donovan again in October/ November 2021 for a ligament problem with my hand and the X-rays and treatment was completed in the office. The range of motion improved along with strength, and the pain is gone.
My mother had surgery on 7/20/20. Doctor Donovan was 2 hours late for the operation. One assistant said he is always late. That should of been the first red flag. On 7/24 called the office to explain the horrible pain she was having and was told she could take Advil for pain. Wow I’ve never known Advil to work on pain that made an 85 yr old woman cry. After accepting her explanation I Said we needed an appointment so Dr Donovan could address the severity of the pain and was put on hold for 17 minutes only for assistant to come back and argue about the pain again and to be chastised for the call taking 23 minutes. Still no appointment . So I’d be hesitant to recommend this cl Nic.
Went to see this Dr. in December of 2020.I was having quite a bit of pain and swelling in my right ring finger. For months prior to seeing him. The finger would really look inflamed and with home treatments I could get the swelling down. I saw him twice and after each visit he asked me “What do you want me to do?” Of course, I said “Get rod of it”? He had made the wrong determination that I had an ingrown fingernail and he said I would lose the nail if he would take it out. Didn’t make sense to me so I went to a different hand surgeon and in a moments time he said I had a mucous tumor. He said he could take out the tumor and clean the area out. I scheduled surgery and sure enough he found exactly what he said he would find. I could have saved months of pain if I had the correct diagnosis and care.
I am going to assume he is a good Dr BUT there is little to no time for personal conversation or answering questions and concerns. Too matter of fact for me.
I am going to assume that he a a good Dr. BUT he had little or no time for me as far as explaining or addressing questions I had asked. Too matter of fact for me..

Would not use him again. Shows no interest in your experience or needs. Very abrupt and condescending attitude.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
