Adventhealth For Children's Online Review Report Card

Both my girls suffer from Neutropenia which caused them to have an episode that resulted in a few overnight stays. The staff here is ALWAYS so helpful and they go above and beyond to help my munchkins and to make them as comfortable as possible. Recently my youngest was admitted 2/9-2/12 and we were on the 6th FL we had the MOST AMAZING nurse ever, Milton!!! My girl is so shy and very wary of new people but she was always so calm with him he made us forget we were in a hospital when he came in the room!! I can go on and on about the care we receive just know they have a 5 star rating from me!!

We had a WONDERFUL experience at this hospital! We brought our 2 year old son in after he had a fever for 9 days. We were seen quickly. Everyone we encountered was polite and did a great job! The nurses and doctor Ivan were fantastic! My son had a Led Zeppelin shirt on and Dr. Ivan even played a Zeppelin song on his guitar to entertain us. The nurses gave my son stickers, a popsicle, brought an iPad w games to distract him and put a movie on for us. They asked repeatedly to make sure all our questions were answered. I highly recommend this place!!!!!

We picked this hospital due to religious reasons and the way I’ve been treated while my daughter is in icu is unimaginable. I hope you guys change your ways Of doing things. This is not what advent stand for. Heartbreaking. Hoping my daughter makes it out of here alive.

Nurses need to be quit they are loud and talk too much about personal stuff while you try to get baby to sleep its really annoying on 7th floor

What a disgrace of a “Christian based hospital”I hope every board member sees this and things change. A law suit is in place for malpractice and the news has been contacted about the complete lack of compassion this hospital speaks so highly of havingIf you are a parent DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL!A good friend of mine took her 3 month old to have a routine heart surgery, she came out and hours later everything possible went wrong. A charge nurse came in and openly admitted things were done wrong. This baby has been fighting for her life for 2 weeks now. With mom by her side sleepless and barely any food in her body. To start when she asked staff if she could order food to the room they asked if she was breastfeeding she said no, so they wouldn’t let her eat. So she was eating out of a vending machine because she didn’t want to leave her child’s side.Then on Saturday she went out and came back and the staff wouldn’t let her up to see her daughter. At this point she hasn’t slept or eaten in days, the mother had a complete and total mental and emotional breakdown in the lobby. A nurse did nothing but threw fuel on the fire. Security was called for her outburst and when asked to leave she left. Now she is trespassed it has been 4 days since this mother has seen her baby. WHOM SHE MAY NEVER SEE ALIVE AGAIN. Which hospital is aware of this. This hospital doesn’t allow emotions? From grieving parents. No one was threatened no one was hurt, she just had a break down due to staff telling her she couldn’t see her child. What kind of disgusting show is this hospital running?Faith based? More like satan based? A 3 month old is fighting and mom isn’t there. She woke up a day ago and mom was not there. This hospital should be ashamed of itself. She has since went multiple apology emails, spoke to head of security, and nothing is being done to help this mother.Parents if you have an ounce of emotion to hard times with your child, do not go to this hospital you will just get banned and your child will fight all alone.Disgrace of a hospital and the news will be airing a story on how disgusting this place is!!!

Please take the time to listen to my horrifying experience.  For backstory, I was a Volunteen at AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach and am now in the works of becoming a Respiratory Therapist. I am not a doctor, however, I know when I see medical malpractice. I was admitted to this hospital from AdventHealth Daytona for 6 days and it was the single most traumatizing experience I have endured. Starting off, I was admitted on 11/29/2020 for severe abdominal pain that I've been dealing with on and off for years, had very high CRP levels, and many more alarming medical events going on within my body. I have had C. Diff 3 times in my past and suffer from ovarian cysts and scoliosis, so I don't come to the hospital over minor pains. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital without my mother, (I was 16 at the time) and was asked questions over and over again that I never felt comfortable answering without my mother, but was pressured by the rude nursing staff upon arrival. I proceeded to go through my visit, having many tests, that all resulted in very alarming lab results, but for some reason, most of these were brushed off as a simple infection. I was also never informed of gallbladder wall thickening, presumably due to passing a kidney stone, having two nodules of significant size on both my lungs, and many more things that all added up to very concerning red flags the doctors should have picked up on. I had at least 5 IV's within a 6 day stay, which is alarming. I had nursing students using me as a practice doll which I never agreed to, and after having two blown IV's, a doctor came in and couldn't even place an IV in my arm. Meanwhile i'm in the bed, writhing in pain, having not eaten in over a week at this point. Knowing that doctors and nurses here don't care was enough to make me want to run from this place. I waited a couple more days, received very minimal care or attention from the nurses, but what can you expect when the nurses are sitting around chit chatting all day. It's really disheartening to be told I have Gastritis, and then to go home and only have the symptoms get worse up to this point. They released me with unsafe lab levels that showed extreme inflammation and infection in my body, yet I was discharged with no medicine for this supposed infection. I am still suffering with symptoms, now a lot more serious ones, and am going to new doctors to figure out why I have lost almost 30 pounds within a year, 5 in the last 2 weeks. Keep in mind, I eat good. I don't skimp on food. I suffer with doubling over pain that gets way worse every time I eat, severe nausea round the clock, sweating profusely all through the day, inconsistent bowel movements, etc. and am seriously concerned I have something a lot more serious going on now. I only was able to find out 99% of the information regarding my medical records and everything that was going on inside of me until my 18th birthday, which was a couple weeks ago. My mother was treated like she didn't know anything, (She's a CNA.) After consulting with other doctors, if I have long lasting medical effects due to mistreatment and malpractice (which like I mentioned, my pain and symptoms have got way worse within the last year) , AdventHealth For Children will be hearing from my lawyer.

Well Cared

We were admitted on 10/10 to the 7th floor pediatrics and all of the nurses were amazing but one nurse stood out to me and she should truly be recognized for her hard work and dedication to her job. Her name is Keisha and she was working the night shift on 10/12. She went out of her way to make my 3 year old son feel less scared about everything. This has been very traumatic for my son and our family but I don’t even have the words for how this nurse made me and my son feel. She took a few minutes more with everything she did to explain things to him,and just let him know things will be ok before doing anything. I will also be nominating her for the daisy award but I can’t even explain the relief I feel as a parent when she walks in the room because she is able to take my sons mind off of everything for just a few minutes and that means so much to both me and my son. As soon as I met her I called home to my husband to tell him how great our night nurse was. If you see this Keisha!! Thank you so so much for your kindness dedication and for just being the amazing you ❤️
