List of Alexander Lin's Reviews
Alexander Lin's medical license should be revoked...He's the most unprofessional (bordering on malpractice) and egotistical "physician" employed in Chicago and he should go elsewhere. Many people have complained about this human. We also have had nothing but severe negative experiences with Alexander Lin. It's hard to believe that he's still affiliated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital a/k/a Northwestern Medicine.
This review isn't about Dr Lin himself- it's abut the office he works at. I am going through fertility treatments elsewhere and my fertility doc needed me to update my annual exam before proceeding with treatment. I saw Dr Lin for an annual exam- pap, breast exam, etc. Everything with Dr Lin was fine. The test results started rolling in on MyChart pretty quickly, but my fertility doc needed the actual notes from my annual exam. I called the office 6 times BEGGING them to send the necessary information to my fertility clinic. Each time the people at the front desk told me it would be sent right away. However nothing was ever sent over. It got to the point where I was begging them, explaining my treatment was going to have to be put on hold indefinitely until they could get around to faxing over the necessary information. They didn't care. I called Dr Lin's office a total of 6 times. I called a 7th time requesting that their office manager call me directly- he never bothered to do so. I called an 8th time for the medical records department but couldn't get a live person and their voicemail system kept hanging up on me. My fertility clinic called them 4 times themselves begging for the information. FINALLY after a total of 12 phone calls we got my records. IT TOOK 12 PHONE CALLS BEGGING THESE MORONS TO DO THEIR DAMN JOB! Will I ever return? No. NEVER. This us ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Not only did they put me at risk for delaying treatment, but they wasted an immeasurable amount of my time and my fertility clinics time. They clearly do NOT give a damn about patient satisfaction or delay of treatment. They should be ashamed of themselves!
If you are experiencing a normal pregnancy this is your doctor. But if you have complications and ask for help you are told 1 it is in your head 2 you are not aware of how much you are eating (having gained 10 lbs in 2 weeks) as it is the holidays 3 you are crazy and hysterical Then after you deliver a 2 lb baby at 30 weeks (30 weeks should be 3.5 to 4 lb) which would indicate that you were sick for all those months that you were complaining 4) you became sick so fast, no one could see this coming. 5) you must have a pre existing condition. All of these statements have been proven false. Yet a blood pressure measurement in my file had been changed and would have been a major clue early on. Like I said, if you don't need a doctor this is your guy.
Dr. Lin diagnosed me with an ectopic pregnancy in the ER by having his residents relay information between us. He never even came to meet me. Two days later, he called to berate me for not following his orders to return to his office - something his residents said was unnecessary. He then proceeded to tell me long list of things he had instructed the residents to tell me which they never did. This information that was never articulated to my husband and I would have impacted decisions we made. Not only was he clearly negligent, but he talked to me as though it was somehow my fault. It seems it would have been a lot easier for him to just get up and come see his own patient. It certainly would have made an already difficult situation less traumatic for me.
Dr. Lin is an excellent surgeon/physician. He is a great listener who answers questions with sufficient depth and is never dismissive of any questions of concerns I have. He is also responsive via e-mail. He recently performed my surgery. It was a success with no complications. After my surgery, he came to my room and walked me through the procedure, what to expect in recovery and provided a photo as I had requested. I highly recommend him for the treatment of Uterine Fibroids.
Dr. Alexander Lin performed surgery on me almost 2 weeks ago. He is an expert in robotic laparoscopic hysterectomy & he has a wonderful & very comfortable energy & demeanor. He talked me through everything & answered every question in preparation for the surgery. During surgery, he found mass scar tissue, which had attached some of my organs together. He removed all of it. I feel like a new person & he has greatly improved my quality of life. My scars are almost invisible in the near 2 wks after my surgery. I am so thankful that he was my doctor and I feel very blessed to have been taken care of by him & his skills. We encounter angels on earth, and he is one of them. He has made a majorly positive impact on my life & well being. Thanks, Dr. Lin---you rock!!!!
Top notch doctor! Dr. Lin always gives me plenty of time to speak about my concerns, is very thorough in answering my questions, is genuinely compassionate and always follows up and calls me personally with any pertinent information. And, I feel very comfortable with him. What else could I ask for in a doctor!
Dr. Lin is the best. He delivered both of my daughters and both of my nephews. He is thorough and confident and helped make both of my pregnancies low stress so I could enjoy the experience. With my first daughter I attempted a natural birth and Dr. Lin was supportive. After 40 hours of labor the baby started to show signs of distress so we had to change plans. Dr. Lin outlined the options and was able to deliver my perfect little girl without a c-section. Most doctors would have had me in surgery but Dr. Lin knew I wanted to avoid a c-section. He delivered my sweet little girl after more than three hours of hard labor. My second daughter was breech at 37 weeks so I scheduled an ECV. Dr. Lin advised that alternative techniques - Moxibustion and Webster - might be effective. I tried both multiple times and the day before the ECV my baby flipped. Dr. Lin was patient during the delivery which allowed me to make a quick recovery and appreciate the first few days with my perfect little baby. During both pregnancies I did internet research on almost everything (which all doctors love) and would talk through issues with Dr. Lin during my visits. I also called Dr.Lin on several occasions to discuss things I read in excerpts from medical journals. He is always responsive and helpful. I am happy my sister referred me to Dr. Lin and that he delivered both of my children because his relaxed demeanor and incredible depth of knowledge help to create the best pregnancy experience.
Dr. Lin is excellent. He delivered our first daughter in 2010 and recently our second daughter in 2013. He is caring, upfront and knowledgeable. He was our primary doctor for both deliveries and we wouldn't want it any other way. He goes above and beyond what is asked. A wonderful doctor and person.
Great doctor!! My husband and I love him! He is very straightforward and funny. He was not our primary doctor but he was great the few times we saw him in the office and hospital.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
