List of April A. Merritt's Reviews
I will start off by saying this is not my normal obgyn, but i had an appointment with another lady who couldn’t show up for my appointment. They then scheduled me with a male doctor (I have wrote down to NOT be seen by a male for personal reasons) so they then switched me last minute again to dr. Merritt. She treated me as I was being an inconvenience to her. Super off putting, told me I HAD to have a cervix exam and to which she was super aggressive about. It’s been a few hours now after my appointment and I still feel like she had torn something. Then schedule my induction date and couldn’t even have the courtesy to let me know what day or what time it was and made one of the other staff bring me it on a post it note. Absolutely awful experience, if I could give her 0 stars i would.
Best OBGyn I ever had!
Dr. Merritt was the on-call dr. when I was in Winnie for early-term induction. It was a complicated and difficult pregnancy (prolapsing, advanced maternal age, GDM, history of preeclampsia, and precipitous labor). During the induction, my placenta tore and I was bleeding out. In 7 minutes, Dr Merritt assessed me, calmed me, prepped me, and began performing a c-section and transfusing blood. She was decisive and precise, and she saved my life and my child's--this is not an overstatement. Afterward, she compassionately managed my pain and ensured I progressed with my recovery while I was in the ICU. She is direct, honest, and straight with you, but also incredibly compassionate-- a real human being who is doing a job she feels "called" to do, not a white coat and a stethoscope. There is a reason all the other healthcare rating sites have her as a 5/5 --perfect score--she is amazing. I wish more doctors--and people--were like her.
She’s very relatable, honest, and knowledgeable. I feel confident I’m in good hands.
Transparent, clear, listen, explain condition (for dummy way) , calm and gives you options explaining the ups and downs of each option. She is amazing.
Dr. Merritt is fabulous!! Very attentive and concerned she was my surgeon for my hysterectomy and I feel phenomenal.
She was my doctor throughout my pregnancy. She induced me on day of delivery then sent in an anesthesiologist to do an epidural Right away I said I didn't want an epidural at that time she came in shortly after and broke my water and then the epidural didn't take, dr Merritt told me they were giving me a booster medicine and I slept through childbirth, was never checked on and my son made his own way through my birth canal, ripping through my insides and out. Beware! She is not as she seems!
I've had a lot of issues for her to help me with like pcos & endometriosis. She did my surgery for removing my endometriosis and was just wonderful! And when she is at the end of her rope she knows just the perfect specialist to refer.
Dr. Merritt sent me to the hospital for induction due to a slight increase in blood pressure when I was 39 weeks pregnant for fear of preeclampsia. The plan was to have my baby the next day since she was the doctor at the hospital that day. She came to the hospital the next day but did not come see me (my husband told me later that he saw her with colleagues), I delivered the baby with her midwife and hospital nurse. Due to the delivery I had severe tearing and bleeding. The nurse and midwife did the best they could to slow down the bleeding and stitch me up until Dr. Merritt arrived. She left the hospital while I was in labor, never came to see me, when she returned she had to stitch me up. My recovery was brutal for 2 months afterwards. It's hard to say if this could have been prevented if the doctor was there but the fact that she didn't come see me while I was in labor even though she was in the hospital still bothers me years after the birth.
CONS: Wait times for appointments can be a bit long, waiting for the doctor or the nurse can also take a while when they're finishing up with other patients. If you go to the smaller office on the east side of town, the receptionist can be a bit short. PROS: Dr. Merritt is AMAZING. She is never too busy for you and wants to make sure she's answered all of your questions. (this is probably the main reason she's late coming into appointments...she doesn't like her patients to feel rushed out.) Dr. Merritt and her nurse Kelly are both deeply invested in their patients, and will do their very best to provide the best care possible. I know this from PERSONAL experience all too well. My son was stillborn with no apparent cause (everything was done completely "by the book" by Dr. Merritt and through my lifestyle choices.) Even though Dr. Merritt was not even on call the night I went in to deliver, she showed up at 2:00am to be with me through it all. She went through everything with me, what I should expect, and stayed as long as I needed her to. I feel completely assured that she would have done ANYTHING to prevent the outcome I got if it were at all within her power to do so. The other doctors at Delaney OBGYN are also very caring and compassionate. Dr. Chambers met me when I first got the news at the hospital, and Dr. Fritz delivered my baby for me. This is most heart-wrenching thing I've ever had to go through, and there is no other team of doctors in the world I would rather have by my side to do it. **The next time you gripe that your appoint is going late...remember that your doctor could have just spent her whole night crying with a patient that lost her child. Dr. Merritt did it for me. A doctor that will do that is worth a lobby room wait. :o)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
