April Merritt's Online Review Report Card

I had a horrible experience during labor and delivery with this doctor. Another review said to avoid and I could not agree more.

Avoid, avoid, avoid! In my last trimester of pregnancy I received a call from the doctor deciding to transfer me to high risks specialists, which is fine on the surface. However, I then found out those “specialists” would be residents, not OB-GYNs. I had a long process to find a solution I was comfortable with, but the bottom line was this practice prioritized their legal liability over my health. Then, they would not refund the $1500 that I had prepaid for birth, after several calls due to their policies on processing insurance claims. (They had no insurance claim to process on my behalf though, it was another doctors’ office.) This was after I was told by their staff it would be the next billing cycle. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to care about patients, but I’ll bet they’ll care about their reviews. Update - TWO MONTHS after delivery - still no refund from your office on a delivery you refused to perform. You are a thief! Update 4/19/23 - six months later and fifteen calls and three emails (as requested below) and still not sorted. These guys are a mess!

I will start off by saying this is not my normal obgyn, but i had an appointment with another lady who couldn’t show up for my appointment. They then scheduled me with a male doctor (I have wrote down to NOT be seen by a male for personal reasons) so they then switched me last minute again to dr. Merritt. She treated me as I was being an inconvenience to her. Super off putting, told me I HAD to have a cervix exam and to which she was super aggressive about. It’s been a few hours now after my appointment and I still feel like she had torn something. Then schedule my induction date and couldn’t even have the courtesy to let me know what day or what time it was and made one of the other staff bring me it on a post it note. Absolutely awful experience, if I could give her 0 stars i would.

She’s an AMAZING doctor! She had to preform an emergency c section during my labor and did a fantastic job! Her professionalism and kindness was very calming during the surgery. I am writing this one month after the surgery, currently feeling great and had minimal post op pain and scaring! More importantly I have two healthy twin babies all thanks to this wonderful doctor:) I HIGHLY recommend her!

I’ve been seeing Dr Merritt as my gyn for quite a few years now. Love her! Easy to talk to; very caring; responsive when you contact with questions. Her nurse is also awesome! My favorite doc!!!!

Dr. Merritt was the on-call dr. when I was in Winnie for early-term induction. It was a complicated and difficult pregnancy (prolapsing, advanced maternal age, GDM, history of preeclampsia, and precipitous labor). During the induction, my placenta tore and I was bleeding out. In 7 minutes, Dr Merritt assessed me, calmed me, prepped me, and began performing a c-section and transfusing blood. She was decisive and precise, and she saved my life and my child's--this is not an overstatement. Afterward, she compassionately managed my pain and ensured I progressed with my recovery while I was in the ICU. She is direct, honest, and straight with you, but also incredibly compassionate-- a real human being who is doing a job she feels "called" to do, not a white coat and a stethoscope. There is a reason all the other healthcare rating sites have her as a 5/5 --perfect score--she is amazing. I wish more doctors--and people--were like her.

Dr. Merritt is a wonderful doctor!!! She is easy to talk to, compassionate, very knowledgeable and stays up to date on family planing, pre and post natal care. Dr Merritt is also an advocate for you! She knew I wanted a natural delivery and when the going got tough during my delivery and my family wanted me to have a c-section she reminded me why I chose that delivery plan and explained she would do whatever I wanted to help me. We stuck with the original plan and I couldn’t have been happier! Two kids and ten years later, she is still is my favorite doctor!!!

She’s very relatable, honest, and knowledgeable. I feel confident I’m in good hands.

Transparent, clear, listen, explain condition (for dummy way) , calm and gives you options explaining the ups and downs of each option. She is amazing.
