Arnold Bierman's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Bierman recommended yoked prisms for my daughter, insisting that her eyes needed correcting. We trusted him for years with her well-being, because he is the professional. He touts himself as an eye doctor that helps turn around learning/reading disabilities. It's simply not true. Turns out, she has dyslexia and is only slightly far-sighted. Very disappointed to have wasted time (and $$) that could have been spent on occupational therapy.

This is in response to Melissa S' review. What a bunch of garbage. It sounds to me like someone scornful who is trying to retaliate a (She thinks) wrongdoing. Dr. Bierman would NEVER, EVER do any of the things this person claims he has done. It's just not true. There was never such patient, these things never happened, and IF she is rea and IF her experiences in this office were as horrible and frightening as she claims then she should have run for the hills immediately and not waited. I have known this man for fifteen years. He is kind, compassionate, thorough and professional. I find her review completely laughable: from the very beginning she sounds like a "problem child". During this pack of lies she comments on Dr. Bierman "snapping at her", "berating her", and "accusing" her of things. Dr. Bierman is calm, quiet, shy and sweet. He would be the first one to say "I have a feeling you are not finding us a good fit, I can refer you to some colleagues to see if you are more comfortable with them" if he saw you were struggling in your relationship with him. She states that she didn't like the glasses he had to offer so she went elsewhere and he "Pouted, guilt-tripped and finally berated" her for not having her lenses checked. What doctor would do something like this and not lose their license let alone all of their patients? Think about it, folks. The things this person accuses Dr. Bierman of is not something he would choose to only do to just her, she is not some "special, chosen one". If he did these things with her (and he would never treat a human being this way, it simply is not in his nature) to someone anyone else he would have lost his license and/or business years ago. I'm asking you, the reader, to please consider all the outrageous nonsense this person wants you to believe. She's trying to make herself sound like an utter helpless pushover victim. How does she expect ANYONE to believe all of this drivel she is dishing out? This person has an agenda and that is to hurt Dr. Bierman for some reason only "she" knows. Maybe she is a former employee that was let go for doing a poor job? The doctor says he has never had such a patient and not one of his patients has had these kinds of issues, they are all made up. I believe him. I also see that "Melissa" gave three out of five stars in the review. If her life at his office was as miserable as she states then why such a generous grade? Everything about this review stinks to high heaven of lies. It's sickening to me that someone would try to hurt a man who works so hard to help not only patients but the community. I say look at Dr. Bierman's history and let it stand on its own merit. There are countless newspaper articles profiling the great works of this man. Dozens of thank you letters and cards from patients and parents of patients thanking the doctor for their care and for saving the sight of their children cover the walls. In November of 2018 Dr. Bierman was honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, a great endorsement by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the health care industry. This is just one of many, many awards the doctor has achieved over his long career. Obviously he is doing everything right. I don't believe a word this Melissa S. says. You shouldn't either!

I was referred to Dr Bierman after another doctor's pushiness gave me anxiety about having my eyes checked. I remained a patient for years, but was never 100% satisfied with everything. Unlike other posters, I find his office staff unhelpful. My very first appointment they refused my insurance for my glasses, telling me to go home and call HR rather then them calling my insurance company to verify. Only when I said I would buy elsewhere did they act. Every pair of glasses took a month to arrive and every time when I would call to see when they would finally be in they were always "just going to call me". Once ok, but every time? They forgot to call. I had glasses that came without a coating I paid for and had to argue, lenses that disintegrated (which he accused me of putting glue on???) and the pair that turned me into a zombie that likely had the wrong prescription though he denied it and remade them. There was the staff woman who hated every pair I put on but had no suggestions, the one who hated the pair I picked and told me so and the woman who tried to bully into buying a pair I hated until I told her to back off. So I started buying glasses elsewhere but still seeing Dr Bierman. It did not go over well. First time I asked he pouted and tried to guilt me, second time he berated me for not having them checked because he claimed they had the wrong lenses though I saw fine for 2 years with them and then he scratched my lens deeply while checking it, then played dumb when I questioned him. Response? Oh, he will pay for a new lens if I buy from him. Really? His typically small selection was a third of its usually tiny size and he kept shoving frames at me rather than let me look. I went elsewhere. This final appointment also contained scoldings for only coming every other year, which is all my insurance will cover. I tried paying out of pocket in between but his "crack" office staff constantly refused payment in office and 3 weeks later would bill me, forcing me to mail a check or stop in to charge. Worse, they kept trying to submit it to insurance which would cover $10 in an off year so when I went back expecting full coverage, was denied because of "covering" it the previous year, so I wound up paying full price two years in a row. The only way to stop it was to only go when covered. He can thank his office staff for that. Honestly I found him hard to talk to. He barely spoke, would respond to complaints with "I believe you" rather than sorry or offering a solution and while my friend found him calming, I found interacting with him awkward if not downright painful. I smiled uncomfortably about a story he told because I didn't know what to say and he snapped at me not to laugh, it wasn't funny. No personality at all. I actually was irritated into getting over my anxiety and left his practice.

I had gone to Dr Bierman for the last 5 or so years for glasses and always found them to be perfect with a very short time of adjustment, if any. As Jacquie stated in the previous review, it is nice to be cared for by this professional. My insurance changed also, (early retirement), and in addition to this I had moved further away from Lansdale. I attempted to get my much needed new glasses and prescription handled by Walmart due to my changed circumstances and while the staff there was very nice, I could not adjust to the glasses at all and in the end received a full refund, but of course lost the cost of the eye exam. I am returning to Dr Bierman, because I am confident in his ability to provide me with appropriate eyewear...his skills to far beyond any vision care I have ever received in the past.
