Dr. Cabrera is very thorough and the staff is very helpful and pleasant.
I wanted to continue care at Brown since we moved from the Jacksonville, FL area to the Orlando area office. Unfortunately I never get any calls returned to make my first appointment. I’ve been getting the run around for a week. Highly disappointed since I did like the Jacksonville office. But the Orlando office is bad with communication. Since I can’t get anyone to return calls I’ll need to change my referral.
My experience has been nothing but complete frustration, dissapointment and waste of money with Brown Fertility. To start I have only met the Doctor ONE time in the 3 cycles that we have signed for and it was for a 10 min telehealth visit to give the go ahead to start. Mind you I was on hold for the telehealth call for over 1 1/2 hours because they had to verify that I had made my payment in full (which I did and had receipts for). On that 1st cycle, we were assigned the worst possible nurse who NEVER answered emails, sent prescriptions to the incorrect pharmacy after having being told which pharmacy to send it to, and did not respond to the preauthorization requests from the pharmacy. I spent over 4 hours on the phone between Brown and the pharmacy and to sum it up, I ended up started my meds a day late. That 1st cycle was unsuccessful and for the second we were assigned to a Nurse Practioner, again no compassion and no actual Doctor. The 2nd round they discovered a polyp and said that could've been why it didn't stick the 1st time. They did so many ultrasounds so how was this not seen before? Anyways that transfer was cancelled due to to many eggs retrieved and I was supposed to take a medication to lower my levels which I didn't receive until a week later because AGAIN no one would answer the calls to my pharmacy. I called about having severe headaches that impaired me from working and no follow up was given. Now on to the 3rd cycle and it was just cancelled due to elevated levels in my blood work that never existed in any other cycle. No further explanation was given except we have to schedule a follow up. All I asked was for the blood to be drawn once again just to make sure before canceling since we spent hundreds of dollars on medication that is going to expire and request was denied. They have nurses call you that are unable to answer questions. The IVF journey is already an emotional, stressful and financially straining journey. I have not received one ounce of compassion or felt like I've actually been "seen" as a patient or offered any options. I will be completing my followup and moving to a different practice that actually prioritizes patient care. Now on to receiving my money back for credits that I have which I'm sure will be another battle.
These offices are a hot mess. Lack of communication between themselves, cancelled visits, broken machines. I cannot believe they deal with something so delicate as fertility services. My appointment was cancelled and no one told me; in fact, I called to get the antibiotic I was supposed to take because up to that point no one had called or sent the medication to the pharmacy. They apologized and sent me the antibiotic and told me to take it BUT my appointment had been cancelled days before because the machine had not been working. Apparently no one knew only the one person that called me the morning of the exam to ask if I was going two hours away to the other office. I mean, how did only one person knew that the exam had been cancelled days ago and the rest of the office is sending me to take medication? Being that this exam can only be done during certain times of the month, it ruined a trip I had scheduled and pushed everything back. UGH! Because of the late notice and the limited window oif time, I was unable to reschedule with a different practice. So, I had to reschedule with them a month later. Never heard from anyone, so I called a couple days before since I needed to confirm how to take the antibiotic. Come to find out the machine was still broken and they had scheduled me for a different exam (not at all what the doctor ordered). I was livid, again. Ended up having to drive two hours to make it there. The day before the exam, they moved my appointment to an earlier time. Mind you, I am driving two hours and having to ask someone to go with me. UGH! The nurse who took my vitals was ok. Kind of dry for this type of practice, but whatever. I did not see a doctor as my appointment indicated, but a nurse practitioner. She was nice at least, because everyone else in that office seemed very miserable. The exam was VEY painful and the person at the front desk never mentioned I could have asked for laughing gas. She never offered it as an option or explained. WHY??? I am done with these people, and I hope I don't have to go back.
The billing department is a joke . We did few procedures here and every time I check out they say , insurance will take care of it . After an year I got $4500 bill home telling my insurance was not setup correctly and someone caught it after an year . I and my husband had to call the billing multiple times and talk with various people to sort it out - seems like they missed it and finally decided to send me a bill . We kept on calling insurance and they said brown clinic didn’t even submit one claim so far. Very coldly they were asking me to pay outstanding amount of $4500 , as if it’s just a penny . I should have been informed ahead how much it will charge per procedure and should have cleared my dues as I was going into that clinic Atleast thrice a month for a year !!!! I won’t return to this clinic again The physician prescribed metformin for me assuming I will be diabetic during pregnancy and my other physicians were quite surprised asking why I am taking metformin as I am not even diabetic .

Worst IVF clinic! It started with the front desk rep who was rude as ever. They don’t tell you up front that procedures are done in Jacksonville not the Orlando office. The doctors and their nurse are rude. I started originally working with Dr. Gomez, on one of my ultrasound appts no one told me Dr. Cabrera and his nurse would be doing that appt, they came in and never introduced themselves and just looked at the screen with horror and disgust at a cyst, then proceeded to say I needed surgery, they push that because they have to pay off for their machines. Next appt my doctor pushed that as well. I declined, I’ve never had to have surgery, why start now? Dr. Gomez did say it wasn’t life threatening just a better chance to conceive, but cysts can reoccur which means more surgeries likely. No thanks! They mentioned having me pay over $10,000 for donor egg, they just want money, their prices are insane. And they don’t even give you a chance or have any faith in conceiving, they just want to perform surgeries on you and cut into you, all for money! I went to CNY fertility (NY has better IVF clinics and more affordable) with kind staff and doctors who start conversations with positivity and give you hope, not like Brown Fertility where they make you feel as though you’re body is broken and without them you won’t conceive. I did conceive without any surgery at CNY fertility and the cost was a fraction than brown fertility.
