List of Carolyn Lyon's Reviews
I am an intestinal transplant recipient (both small and large bowels) and have a rare and incurable cancer called Multiple Myeloma . Because of the nature of the bowel transplant, I am subject to severe dehydration, usually requiring five to ten bags of fluids to return my BP to normal. I check into the ER at South Lake hospital at 4:00 AM on March 26, 2016 severely dehydrated to the point I was fainting when standing. Carolyn Lyons was on duty in the ER and far more concerned with getting an empty room because the hospital was crowed and began trying to kick me out of the ER within minutes of meeting me. She gave me only 2 bags of fluid until my resting BP was almost normal, failing to perform an orthostatic BP test to see if my BP dropped when standing, which it did when I had the nurse check -- like a stone. It dropped to dangerous levels below 51 over 25, yet she found it expedient to release me without discussing it with me first. I left the ER and had to stop four times in the parking lot to catch my breath and squat down to avoid fainting. She is a horrible Doctor and should really consider a new career. I could easily die given my complications. There are less than 1,100 surviving intestinal transplant recipients and we live in a delicate balance, but Dr. Lyons gave it no consideration, rather treating me as some bum off the street. I have never had such horrible treatment since my transplant. Most good doctors move with caution around me, since they have never seen nor cared for someone with such a condition, then add the cancer on top. I hope Dr Lyons chooses another career, because she is a horrendous doctor who treats the ER as if it is a hotel, trying to free up vacancies, rather then caring for those who need it most. When returning home, I was still severely dehydrated and had to call rescue to take me to a real hospital in Orlando. Dr. Carolyn Lyon, you suck as a doctor and really need to change careers before you kill someone, if you haven't already.
I found myself in the ER after experiencing greater than usual lower back pain that has persisted for 4 years after a zipline fall. Dr. Lyon recommended an alternative to my usual opioid meds (ultram I think is the brand name) and it has been amazingly helpful. Although it didn't completely knock out the pain, it reduced the inflammation like nothing else. It just sucks I had to go to an ER to be exposed to such a great alternative medication! I'm slowly moving from the percocet to ultram by reducing daily intake by 1 pill per week. That's how you get off pain meds safely without feeling like total crap, but most doctors don't seem to think that's possible. Some of us that are on these meds, would LOVE NOT to be, but you got to at least offer the alternatives! The reason I can't give 4 stars is I ended up having to go back and forth from the ER to the Phx 3 times as the RX had incorrect info. In fact, the second time I got 2 rx for percocet! (and yes, I returned the second one) and I guess they thought something shady might be going as they called the pharmacy to make sure I was legit I guess...not sure of what I could be doing wrong, but whatever. It's Florida.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
