Dr. Sonny V. Joseph, Md's Online Review Report Card

I almost died because of this doctor. He has been overprescribing medications to patients for years. We are talking about massive doses of Xanax and adderall. Additionally he will put you on an array of different off label medications, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, the list goes on. When I was his patient I had a medication closet….not cabinet, but a closet of meds. Finally last year I had a near fatal OD. I honestly should be dead right now. I got off all those meds and now just take 3 simple medications. I still struggle to this day with lasting side effects and withdrawals. To top it all off he sent me a letter in the mail dismissing me as a patient because apparently it was my fault. There are so many other providers out there that actually care about you and want to help, not prescribe: Xanax, Olanzapine, seroquel, clonidine, imipramine, bupropion, Topimax, trileptal, sertraline, depakote, and more! Yes that was my cocktail. The icing on the cake is that he now lost his DEA license and can no longer prescribe controlled substances. Every ex patient of his and every new provider I see goes crazy when I mention his name. They say he’s dangerous. My new mental health provider alone is caring for so many of his patients and helping them get to a healthy and happy life not revolving around pills……tons of pills. Steer clear!

I have been a patient of Dr. Joseph for many years, but unfortunately, I’ve had a terrible time trying to reconnect with the office. After a year-long hiatus due to other health issues, I have made several attempts to schedule an appointment. Despite my efforts, I have not received the courtesy of a return call. This lack of communication is deeply concerning, especially in the field of psychiatric care where patient support is vital.

You know it's hard to find a good psychiatrist when your general practitioner has no recommendations for you! It's not that there aren't any around, it's that they don't have any they can recommend and ask YOU to let THEM know if you find a good one! After trying another office for awhile, where I didn't feel listened to, I gave Dr Sonny Joseph a try. 7 years later, I feel heard and would recommend him to my GP or anyone looking for a psychiatrist. I also appreciate the office staff. When I need to call them they are always easy to reach and very helpful and friendly.
