Fernando Gonzales-Portillo's Online Review Report Card

Today was my 1st appointment with Dr. Gonzales Portillo. I was very anxious because of the reviews I've been reading. I am writing this review because the experience was the opposite. Since I got there, the front clerk was very nice & professional. The head nurse was absolutely empathic with my concerns. She reviewed all my symptoms, dates, medications, treatments, etc before Dr. Gonzales-Portillo 1st evaluation. The neurologist was completely professional, took his time to heard my concerns, to answer my questions, to establish a clinical plan. I left this office with absolute hope on the future. Appointments were scheduled as expected. 100% Recommended! -------‐------------------------------------------------------ Hoy fue mi primera cita con el Dr. Gonzales Portillo. Estaba muy ansiosa por las críticas que había estado leyendo. Escribo esta reseña porque la experiencia fue todo lo contrario. Desde que llegué allí, la recepcionista fue muy amable y profesional. La enfermera fue absolutamente empática con mis preocupaciones. Revisó todos mis síntomas, fechas, medicamentos, tratamientos, etc. antes de la primera evaluación con Dr. Gonzales-Portillo. El neurólogo fue completamente profesional, se tomó su tiempo para escuchar mis inquietudes, para responder mis dudas, para establecer un plan clínico. Salí de esta oficina con absoluta esperanza en el futuro. Las citas se programaron como se esperaba. 100% Recomendado!

The fact they never pick up the phone. I've called six times & still wasn't able to get anyone. On two of the calls they answered & immediately hung up. I been coming here almost a yr. And it's been like this. And I never saw the actual Dr here. They are horrible with answering the phones. And schedule you knowing the office will be close. I been done like this twice as well. Not acceptable

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! This office has high turnover rate for employment with doctors and staff. The office manager is young and unexperienced, staff is racist towards our Haitian community. If you're considering bringing your loved ones, I strongly advise you to reconsider only because time after time I've witness catastrophic errors such as reading incorrect results such as MRA MRI EEG EMG and actually preparing care plan /medications. when staff/nurses have gotten patients mixed and cover for it. office doesn't pre-chart prior to schedule day so they never really go over your medical history ex. office is money motivated witch means you will only see the Dr. if lucky for 5 min. He pays close att to WC patients because as they say pays a lot more and guaranteed. I will be reporting to OneCall , AdventHealth and the surrounding contractors.

No wander this doctor has 3.0 at the office in Lake Underhill, there staff are rude they don't know how to answer the phones, some patients wants to speak Spanish the way they answer the phone with attitude not only that if they say they open Monday thru Friday from 8:00am-5:00pm you call and the phone rings rings there's not even a recorder or nothing they never answer the calls my pharmacy are trying to contact this provider over a month and nothing I contact them they say oh I will send the script and they never do. I will start looking for another neurology, they are ready to take you copay but when is time to send script for medication they don't do nothing

I went to my appointment with Dr González Portillo and they told me that’s not in the office that day. They suspended my appointment 3 or 4 times before because he will not be in the office because I told them that I am going to see only him and the lady in the from office told me that the Dr is not working that day. That’s another Nurse practitioner that dat . I am tired to have people that didn’t treat my condition of MS like nothing. Enough is enough. I am done with this office I am going to look for a better professional to give me better quality of life and health. I don’t recommend this office to anybody. I don’t give them any stars because they don’t deserve any . They have 0 stars from me.

I strongly recommend avoiding Neurological Health Associates. Dr. Gonzales-Portillo missed an obvious diagnosis and rather than further investigate my symptoms told me that he didn't know what the issue was and to come back after 3 additional months of documenting symptoms (1 had already been in his care for 2 months at that point and had a whole battery of tests). I finally diagnosed myself and brought the test results to prove it. He was not convinced and wanted to delay treatment by a month while waiting on additional tests. My diagnosis ended up being correct. When it was confirmed by his tests, he didn't even come to my appointment to tell me, and instead sent the nurse practitioner (who was very kind). Dr. Gonzalez-Portillo has poor bedside manner and little empathy for his patients. His front office staff hung up on Quest Diagnostics and then myself on two occasions. His office routinely submits the wrong information to insurance resulting in denial of coverage for imaging.

I had a difficult disorder to diagnose and Dr. Portillo was the only neurologist who took me seriously and gave me a treatment plan that actually worked. After being gas-lit by doctors for almost a decade, Dr. Gonzalez Portillo helped me start to get my life back. I've since moved 4 hours away and still won't change doctors.

That Everytime I go to this doctor , the person who see's me is the nurse practitioner Elibel Abanilla . Never seen the doctor and answering service , not reliable at all. A waste of time . Already found reliable one.

Worst doctor. Wost office.
