My mother went to see Dr. Beneke for a cataract consultation. She was left sitting in the consultation room for about an hour after the exam for no good reason. When they were getting ready to close my dad had to ask what was going on, for them to realize that she was just sitting there unattended. She had been told she would need surgery, but there was never any follow up, so I called the office today and he never submitted the surgery referral to the insurance! My parents wasted their time (hours). So I decided to read up about this doctor and found other reviews saying he ended up leaving people without eyesight when the surgery didn’t go as expected. Also, read that he doesn’t communicate well, he doesn’t speak much, he just grabs your face as if you were a mannequin as he does his exams, which all proved true with my parents as well. We will not schedule or continue to work with this doctor. Will get another opinion and if needed surgery elsewhere.
Never have I seen a doctor be so rude. I know Magruder Eye Institute is always busy. I know time with the doctor is limited. But as a doctor you should leave your patient feeling better, not worse. He cut my mom off from speaking and told her he didn't have time to read her list of problems and later said it wasn't important. I have had doctors in a hurry and there are a million ways to hurry without degrading someone and making them feel worse than when they came in. He didn't tell my mom what was wrong with her eyes. Then leaves the room as my mom is asking a question and yells down the hall, "Ask the nurse okay!"
After FINALLY getting to see Dr B on Mills, the appointment went well. The problem was the amount of time between checking in(3pm-not withstanding initial virus check) and seeing the doctor(4:15). In addition I never saw anyone cleaning the waiting room chairs as a number of waiting patients came and left - there WAS space between patients
It is very sad that Dr Beneke, an excellent doctor, should work with the Magruder Instiute. A very disorganized place,,the majority of the assistants have no manners nor courtesy. They do not help patients in need, specially over the phone. I do not think the person that answers the emergency phone calls is guided correctly. It is not a nice place to attend for eye problems.
Never got to see him because on separate occasions two different receptionist hung on on me because I didn’t know the name of my insurance. Classy
Dr. Beneke did cataract surgery on me, and the procedure was painless during and after. The next day, I was able to drive myself to my post-operative appointment without having to wear glasses, and I was able to get back to work the same day. I thought Dr. Beneke and his staff were amiable and professional, and I have already recommended him to my coworkers and friends.
MY PLEASURE TO HAVE COME HERE . I LOVE THEM ,THEY SAVED MY EYES ! 3 CHEERS AND A STANDING OVATION!!!! DR. BENAGEE
Main issue is not with Dr. Beneke. It is with the Magruder Eye Institute. It is very much like an assembly line in a factory. Long wait time. Not sure how to fix the problem without driving cost up.
I have been going to Dr. John Beneke for years. I have been very impressed with his ease of discussing technical/medical processes and procedures based on test and procedure results. He is extremely responsive to my questions. He is soft spoken and deeply concentrates with results that he is analyzing. Based on my experience with him, I would go to no other. Sometimes I question the effort of the support staff (technicians), but not Dr. Beneke.
