Matthew Shlapack's Online Review Report Card

I saw Dr Matthew Schlapack in the Villages. I have to say I’ve seen my share of Endos and he was the nicest, most knowledgeable phycians I have seen. He answered ALL of my questions, gave me some good tips on controlling my diabetes and adjusted my meds. Told me to call anytime I had a problem. His staff were very pleasant and helpful too. PS Endos are specialists and usually do not prescribe all your meds. Go to your PCP for that.

I had my first visit with Dr. Shlapack today. He was attentive, patient, thorough, and very empathetic. He took all the time that I needed to explain things to me so that I left with a clearer understanding of my condition and how we would move forward in the future. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone in need of a great physician!

Wow. I hesitated finding a new endocrinologist in this area I have been a diabetic for over 20 years and could f never find a doctor who listened and worked with me to manage this disease..often I was given unrealistic goals to follow. Now only a week after my appt the changes we made are making me better and in more control already. Thank you. Doc!!

I'm not sure the negative reviews are talking about Dr. Schlapak. He not only has a great manner, but he is extremely knowledgable and provides all the information you need to know to make informed choices. I am seeing him for thyroid and he does not push to immediately do 1000 tests. He lets me make the choices based on his extensive knowledge he provides me. Friendly, personable, knowledgable, competent, caring. That is what I want from my doctors and he is all of that.

Does not listen. Quick to jump to conclusions.

I’ve been going to Dr Shlapack for approximately 6 months,in these 6 months I’ve talked to the Dr about my dieabetic problems in depth,more than my previous Dr did in 10 yrs total, I’ve learned a lot of knowledge how to treat my diabetes and he has me now on a CGM (glucose monitor) that has changed my life. Dr Shlapake has shown total respect for me,he’s working on all my medications +(Insulin) with my daily schedule and fine tuning it. I asked him about interaction of different meds I’m on and not only concerned,but found a problem between 2 of my meds that was effecting my ability to make normal judgements calls.When he downloads my readings into a chart he goes over them with me and it makes understanding them very easy,my last dieabetic Dr. never did this in the whole 10 yrs. Thank goodness Dr Shlapake came to work for Health First and working to give me a better life. I’m a 66 yr old male

This doctor treated me in the hospital and was very rude, condescending. He would not give me my regular medicines and kept insisting on just giving me insulin. I do not have to take insulin at home and my blood sugars were very high for days before and after my open heart surgery. Finally another Endocrinologist took over, gave me the correct medicine and my sugars were excellent for the rest of my stay. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone. How can you say he has a GOOD rating 2.5 out of 5.0 is Poor! He does not listen to the patient. I will not follow up with him after being released. As far as I am concerned he deserves 0 stars.

I have completed two appointment and thus far am totally pleased .
