List of Melvin Field's Reviews
Dr. Field treated me both for a brain mass and lumbar spinal stenosis. Both surgeries were successful and about two years apart. Dr. Field is an extremely skilled surgeon with a warm bedside manner. He discusses each issue in layman’s terms and provides understandable explanations of what the surgery would entail along with the risks in each situation. He is compassionate and understands his patient’s needs. He spends time with patients, listening to their questions, and does not rush through an appointment. I was also very pleased with his immediate staff that included a patient care coordinator, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, and a skilled nurse. Each one was very personable and skilled in their respective position. Kudos goes to each of them for the care that I received. If you are looking for someone that is skilled, caring, and compassionate, I do not think you can find a better physician than him.

My wife died after surgery he said was minor no problem. Brain tumor small hole but ended cutting almost all the way across the head then wanted to do more surgery before she woke up but never recovered
In 2005 dr field did a laminectomy for a rupturing disk & a tumor that id had for years & was very painful. I was told the surgery might cause paralysis, but was up & walking in a week, & back to work in 2 weeks! Something is going now with my back & i want no one but dr field.
I can't believe people think he has great bedside manner. He had a superior"Winter Park" attitude and talked down to me the whole visit. Insulted my (crappy, to be exact) MEDICARE insurance plan when he heard I had not gone to another recommended doctor that was out of my network. I guess he forgot they let me come to him, so he must be a lower tier! : ) Was not impressed, and he did not help me at all. Office staff like robots.
I returned from Iraq in 2004 with a ticking timebomb in my head from an injury I suffered while in the US Army. Nerves in my face had been damaged and I developed a continuous uncontrollable tic on the left side of my face and neck, which progressively worsened over the years. By 2012, doctors were still unable to determine what was causing the issue, misdiagnosing my condition from psychological to Bell's Palsy. Due to PTSD and a number of unfortunate personal events, compounded by this debilitating condition, I had neared the end of my sanity and figurative rope. I eventually, through a series of blessings, was referred to Dr. Field. Fortunately, his office was within a day's driving distance and his office quickly set up an appointment for him to see me. Within five minutes of him seeing me, he knew exactly what my problem was and we began to set up an appointment for surgery to repair the facial nerves that plagued me all those years. Within five minutes of him seeing me, he knew exactly what my problem was and we began to set up an appointment for surgery to repair the facial nerves that plagued me all those years. The next month, I underwent the surgery, which involved boring a hole behind my left ear, moving my brain over, and repairing the nerve(s) which caused the uncontrollable tics in a procedure called Microvascular Decompression. It has now been nine years and I am still tic free. It is my belief, to this day, that Dr. Field was a Godsend and blessing who saved my sanity and my livelihood, if not my very life! He is truly a gifted dpctor and surgeon who I am so glad I trusted with my life.
Dr Field was kind, made my son feel comfortable about his surgery, and always explained things to us clearly and thoroughly. I feel lucky to have had him care for my son.
Dr Fields was absolutely amazing if you don't use him you really need your head checked !! I had a shunt placement and I came home and took care of myself and feel 25 years younger and do not forget hardly anything at all now my life is normal THANK YOU !! Dr Fields was everything I expected and much more he is a true rock star !! I have my life back because of him
Dr. Field was wonderful. He did the brain surgery at Florida Hospital and it went great. No problems what so ever. Did a nice scar at the hair line and nobody can see but my hairdresser. Great bedside manner and follow up. Brain surgery is not something to mess around with but he did great and I would definitely go to him again.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
