Mark Lastarza's Online Review Report Card

I have been his patient since the fall of 2020 and have found him to be very knowledgeable, agreeable and focused on me, the patient. His office sometimes needs to be reminded to follow up with the appropriate insurance forms, pre authorizations, etc. but are very earnest and sincere. He always submits my prescriptions while I am there with him, so it’s up to the administrative staff to respond the the pharmacy when it sends the pre authorization forms to them. Again I am generally very pleased with the doctor and the office. I would suggest the office manager or chief nurse create a “tickler” file to ensure all loops are closed in a timely manner. The staff is always very positive and takes action when I ask about pre authorizations, etc.

Father's fingers and toes and the tip of his nose was turning purple with increase weakness and confusion. His oxygen saturation was dropping. Dr. Lastarza saw him said he was fine. Ordered a chest x ray and gone in 2 minutes. We asked for second opinion with Pulmonologist who ordered a CT scan and found multiple pulmonary emboli. Risk of death is 30% if not discovered and treated. He thought we were overreacting and that my father was just old. Pulmonary Embolism should always be considered in cases of breathing trouble with an unremarkable chest x ray.

I went to the office space where my last appt was in Dec 2022 and found it empty with no information on where Dr LaStarza relocated. The website is not updated and practices located around his old office knew nothing about where he’s now located. I need to get a new ‘script for one medication that is now out. Does anyone know anything????

Insurance website stated taking new patients, as did the portal when making the appointment. Showed up for an early morning appointment and was told could not be seen since computers were down. Made another appointment, filled out all the paperwork, only to be called the day before to be told doctor is not accepting new patients. After having scheduled 3 weeks in advance, and multiple contacts with the office, to be told this at this stage was ridiculous. What a waste of time and energy to just get a physical.

Canceled on me because of computers, and then the day before my re-scheduled appointment, called to say they can't see me because I am a new patient. This was after me being physically at the office, confirming on phone I was a new patient, and verifying insurance. What a waste of time and energy. They even had me fill out all the paperwork and called to confirm the appointment - only to call me the evening before to say they have to cancel my appointment (again) because they aren't accepting new patients. All I needed was a physical! Ridiculous.

Terrible and disorganized office staff! Showed up to an early morning appointment only to be told the computers were down and I could not be seen because computers were down. Re-scheduled for later in the week and completed all the paperwork; only to be called and told the night before (after they already called to confirm earlier in the day) that they are not accepting new patients - after asking about that when booking the initial appointment over 2 weeks ago. Incompetence blamed on a computer system. Just needed a physical - not on any medication. Terrible.

Don't go here if you value your time and energy.

I’ve been seeing Dr LaStarza since I moved to Florida about 2 1/2 years ago. He is very easy to speak with, takes his time listening to what I have to say, and thoroughly evaluate what my situation is. I trust Dr. LaStarza’s analytical ability I feel fortunate to have found him.

Love the doctor and Michelle Johnson but horrible horrible staff. No return calls and very difficult to deal with. I will be looking for a new doctor. Last time I looked we were the clients.

arrived on site 40 minutes prior to appt as requested, Text messaged from Advent to advise I had arrived at 1230pm, text message indicated to stay in car until contacted. My Appt was at 1pm. I entered at 1250 only to be told my appointment was going to be cancelled because i was a no show. Explaind to receptionist I was waiting for their call, She insisted it was sent, I never got it, very rude, no empathy, only after explaining i had already waited a month for this appointment did they reschedule me with a PA for the following day. If the MD act like the front office admin help, Dont use this practice.
