Rex Birkmire's Online Review Report Card

My wife, my daughter and I have been going to see the psychiatrist there at Rex Park Myers office and have seen Rex and Kevin and Betty and etc.. Their staff is five star very friendly. Will continue going there and seeing him then once a month fantastic place I highly recommend it

We lost this great man and doctor in early December 2022. He cared. He truly cared about the PERSON behind the disease. For three years, once a week, we'd talk for at least an hour. The insights he provided, the resources he guided me to look at, and the constant blood work and maximizing the potential of the medications while minimizing their side effects was what he did as a doctor. But as a human being, he was a caring, pushing-you-through-the-dark-times, funny person. A man who CARED, truly cared. I will forever miss him and the immense progress he pushed me to accomplish.

Dr. B was so kind and honest with me. I really appreciated that. He will be sadly missed. 😞

Dr. Birkmire was an incredible man and Doctor. My wife and I both saw him for several years, and he saved our lives. He will be sorely missed.

This “doctor” overmedicated and misdiagnosed me for years. He was inappropriate, made comments about my appearance and ended up firing ME due to wanting to wean off a very powerful anti anxiety medication. He wasted so much of my life and destroyed my body with drugs I never needed all just to line his pockets. Absolutely the worst medical “professional “ I’ve ever seen and this man should be sued for malpractice. Do NOT see him.

I (Sidney) have never posted a non 5 Star review. I've always believed and I've always tried to practice that if you cannot say anything nice, then don't say anything. This is an exception. We've known Dr. B for about 20 years. During these years Kim saw Dr. B and Kevin with appointments several times a year. We even knew Dr. B outside of work; but Kim has not been there in a few years - though we've referred other current patients and even family, who are current patients. Now for the past 3 weeks, Kim has simply been trying to schedule an appointment. . . . not going to happen with this horrible front office . . . I'll say no more. I am sure that Dr. B does not know how his staffed has jerked Kim around for three weeks. . . . and maybe he'll never know. It's close to Christmas, so I'm still hoping for a positive response from the office so that I can come back and edit this post. . . . Dr. B is awesome. The problem is his staff and his office including those who run his office.

Dr. Betty was amazing for my Grandmother, however with her gone Dr. Birkmire has not correctly refilled any prescriptions. Over a month has gone by, walgreens has reached out 3 times to Dr. Rex to try to authorize her necessary meds. We show up and they ignore us at the door. This office (along with this practicing Psychiatrist) has some serious issues. Now we are trying desperately to get another Psych Dr. before her meds run out. Thanks Dr. Birkmire for giving us a huge issue.

Dr Birkmire is the best Psychiatrist. He really cares about his patients and takes the time to listen at every appointment. Sometimes his wait times seem long but If you need extra time he is always willing to spend the time necessary to give you the BEST care. When my husband was in really bad condition Dr Birkmire spent a lot of time with him. Thanks to Dr Birkmire my husband is doing amazing! Now when we have to wait we know he is giving that same level of care to others . We would highly recommend Dr Birkmire.

A family member has been seeing a Nurse Practitioner in Dr. Birkmire's practice for several years. Honestly, the only reason we started was because there are few in this field that accept Medicare. So, we started so that my family member could continue to get the required medications. Honestly, I report any changes and it has reached the point where I am the one who actually recommends dosage changes. The staff is overworked and thus rushed, impatient and at times rude. There is no respect at all for patient's time. We have had a 10:00 AM appointment and actually seen our provider waltz in at 10:20 AM. They honestly don't care how long you sit there waiting for them. Now, with the Pandemic, all appointments are phone appointments. Today, we had a 10:30 AM appointment. We were ready a few minutes before then. We finally received our call at 12:44 PM. More than two and a half hours late. We received no notification during that time. Twice, I tried to call, only to hear "will you hold?". The second time I called, I interrupted the young lady and said "No, I will not hold I have a question". She accused me of being rude. As a patient, rudeness and bad treatment is at times unbearable. As I said earlier, the only reason they get away with this abusive treatment of their customers is because there is a shortage of providers and insurance issues. Under normal circumstances, they honestly would not have very many customers. We hate having to deal with them. The nurse practitioner we deal with is actually knowledgable and pleasant when we talk with her. But, she has ridiculously bad time management skills. And, her computer is always acting up (or she blames other issues on her computer). I wish this review could be more positive. But, the truth is the truth. I hope they read this review and others like it and take it to heart. They need to treat their patients better.
