I first met Dr. Bavinger when he was a fellow at Emory. I presented (to a different facility) with a retinal detachment that involved the macula and had a poor experience with ophthalmology at this other institution. I chose to be treated elsewhere, and had someone drive me to Emory where I met Dr. Bavinger in the ER. He has a great demeanor with patients. He thoroughly explained the procedure, possible outcomes, and alternative options for me. He is fastidious in his exams and assessments. He performed surgery on me that same morning and in all likelihood salvaged my eyesight. I have regained the vision that I initially lost during the detachment, and recovery is going well. I had an excellent experience under his care and surgical skill.
