List of Steven D. Shapiro's Reviews
Simply - the best! Does great job and has caught some dangerous growths on my skin (biopsies had proven his diagnosis correct on multiple occasions). Excellent mohs surgeon
I saw Steven Shapiro at gardens dermatology to address a few issues. Before seeing him, I communicated the reason I was there to the nurse. After about 10 minutes, they both came into the room and we started the visit. A few things were done but then the doctor started to grow impatient for some reason. Before addressing the issues I had spoken to the nurse about, he kept trying to leave. I stopped him once to look at something but then he quickly left after without addressing anything else. He barely addressed the things he looked at (other than a biopsy that took 3 minutes). He just kept repeating himself about not having “magical” treatments but I’m not sure why as I didn’t ask or imply that anything magical was expected. Either way, I was offered a free visit to address the concerns he failed to address but I won’t be returning. I’ve never had a doctor have an episode like that. It was very unprofessional and concerning. Pretty scary for a dr to ignore things that can be cancer
I had an appt with Steven Shapiro and was surprised by his lack of professionalism. He failed to address all the issues that I had made the appointment for and suddenly left the room as if he was going through some sort of episode. The entire time he kept repeating himself about not having “magical” medication and to come back in a month to see the other doctor even though I wasn’t argumentative or questioning him at all. Maybe he was having a bad day. The two doctors had inconsistent recommendations for prescriptions (the same exact medications). The whole thing was extremely confusing and odd (eventually frustrating). Maybe it’s time to hang up the coat. Waiting for some test results but don’t trust the practice enough to continue going there. I was offered a free visit to address the issues that were neglected by Shapiro but respectfully declined.
Best dermatologist that I have ever been to. When I took my mom there she immediately said, this is the most thourough exam I have ever had in my life and I'm over 80." Was able to resolve serious issues that my son had and that three other doctor's had made worse. He also helped a friend's daughter with some very difficult decisions to make that helped tremendously. Highly recommend.
DRS -there are way TOO many people behind the front desk. Mostly all young girls that are either incompetent or totally rude to your patients. I had an appointment (several prior) with Dr Shapiro. It was an important one concerning him doing a biopsy-have had melanoma 2x. Bad enough making the appt with a girl who doesn't understand English very well but the date was sealed in my calendar. Trust me. Day came, I check in only to be told by one of the mean girls that I had no appt. Somewhere along the way the non-English speaking girl deleted it or didn't put it in... who knows. All I knew was that I HAD MY APPT DATE. However, when there- I was no where to be found in the system. It began with one desk girl with an attitude and as I insisted I had an appt and sat down-there ended up with 4 terribly mean, rude young girls with attitudes and very loud voices yelling across the waiting room at me. It was absolutely disgusting. i can still see this one girls face just sneering at me as she was seriously shouting at me. It was so embarrassing. I had said nothing to any of them at any point. I only KNEW I had a very important appt with DR. SHAPIRO...SCHEDULED FOR A BIOPSY. So Dr. Shapiro-if you ever wondered what happened to me and the lump on my forearm... I left bc I did not deserve one ounce of what your staff , those very RUDE and Disrepectful young girls did to me the day of our appt. THEY ARE DISGRACEFUL TO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION AND AGAIN, you've got WAY TOO MANY GIRLS BEHIND THE DESK-they're all banging into each other, no one knows what the hell they are doing and rely on someone else AND the NASTY ones who display a real disrespect, disregard for your patients and are completely insulting should be RID OF FOR GOOD. THEY ARE RUINING YOUR BUSINESS + REPUTATION. IM NEVER COMING BACK, THATS FOR SURE. MEAN, NASTY GIRLS AT PBDBTW Dr. Shapiro- the biopsy was negative for melanoma.
Diagnosed for precancerous tiny spot on my bald head. Prescribed MOHS surgery. Done on a Thursday. Did not see stitches and possible scar until looking in mirror at home Saturday to change dressing. What I saw shocked me. Several stitches and a possible long scar. As it turned out a deep scar 2 1/2 inches long is forever on the front of my head. People ask if I was hit on the head with a hatchet! Will drop him as a dermatologist.
I don’t know how this office stays in business. No one answers the phone and if you are lucky and they do you’re on hold forever. I’m scheduled for an appointment and have questions and even after leaving a message which is important, no one calls back. This is the worst experience ever.
They dont accommodate new patients at all. If the doctor i worked for ever heard me turn down a new patient he wouldnt be happy.
I have been taking my daughtetr to Dr Shapiros office for over a year now . I always thought he was ok and seemed nice . Several of the office employees however are not nice and are bit rude. I had ignored it for some time but it finally had me over it this last time I went to their office . My daughter had a wart to be removed and we had success in the past removing it with the laser as opposed to freezing it . After waiting a hr past our appointment we finally got into the office . I asked if we could use the laser as it had worked better . He said freezing was better and explained why . Hes the Doctor so if he says thats better then I assume hes correct . I left the room briefly and when i came back we were in the room with the laser. And the doctor and nurse were both gone . I went to find the nurse who was angry and rude . I asked where the doctor went ? and why suddenly in a min did he change his mind from using the freezing method to the laser ? She said i dont know with some attitude in her voice . And told me to go back to the room and wait for the doctor. I asked how long it was going to be and she said 15-20 min . As he was with another patient. I let her know we couldn’t wait and had to leave . As we had already waited 1hr past our appointment. So we left . 2 days later Dr Shapiro’s office sent me a certified letter stating he no longer will take care of my daughter. Im sorry but what did we do ? very unprofessional. The office is rude , they clearly wanted to use the laser because they realized it would cost more even though he said himself the freezing was better . And changed his mind when he realized he would make more money with the laser . And obviously the doctor doesn’t like to be questioned either . I just don't get why in a matter of a min He went from going on and on that freezing is better and why , and then moving us to the laser room . The nurses are rude and can never answer your questions and seem angry to be there . I should have known after reading the reviews that they are rude there . I agree the employees are unhappy and rude . And when you question treatment you get a letter stating you are no longer welcome . I was not planning on returning this office anyway after receiving attitude from the nurse and having to wait over a hr passed our appointment time . But to receive the letter stating he would no longer be caring for my daughter at his office was pretty unprofessional.
I had the most horrific experience in this office- DO NOT SEE DR. SHAPIRO. I went to his practice because another doctor from this practice was recommended. That doctor was not available to see new patients so I saw Dr. Shapiro who is the head of the practice. Worse decision ever!!! He was short, rude and completely incompetent in giving me any useful information, assessment/diagnosis, or advise. He completely ignored every single thing I had to say and any of my concerns. He didn't do an in-depth check up to understand my concern and on top was so so so so SOOOOO RUDE. I left in tears. And the staff was not even empathetic, even after my very obvious and vocal opinion on how horrific Dr. Shapiro has behaved and appointment went. This was the worse experience I have ever had at a doctor!!!!! I give them a ZERO STAR RATING! HORRIFIC!!!!!
