I had the best experience at Florida Coast. I live out of state and after doing my research, I found this was the most affordable center with amazing reviews all across the board for the surgeon Dr. Peterson. I drove nearly 6 hours and it was completely worth it. Julie was so helpful, kind, and understanding. On the day of my surgery Dr. Peterson did everything in his power to ensure I was comfortable and felt safe, as he has done since the very first consultation. He answers all questions and is kind and patient. They were also understanding and supportive of me needing to put a pause on my surgery midway through the process due to a loss I suffered…I am about 7 weeks post op with zero complications. Would recommend them 1000 times!

Dr. Peterson and Julie were very helpful during the process. This is the most affordable self pay bariatric clinic in Florida. You get an incredible value with this team! And you don’t even have to stay overnight in the hospital ! I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

Dr. Peterson was so informative and listened to what my conserns and needs were. He opened up doors to more than one roads to help me in my journey. I felt so much better understanding the process and reasons behind the surgeries and education I will be receiving. I love that I get to learn how to control my life and that I have a team of people, videos, reading materials, etc. to be at my side to guide me through the process. I also have to say Sally Winkler was the first person I was in contact with. She was so kind and helpful. She really helped me set up a time table, get my questions answered, finding out ways to cover the costs I would be responsible for, finding cost effective ways to stretch my dollar since I would be paying out of pocket. She also was just a great person to talk with. In short great people doing great things. Love them!!!

GASTRIC SLEEVE - Explored gastric sleeve to reverse all the ‘pre-ailments’--pre-hypertension, prediabetes, borderline lipid issues, and the resulting long term medications and increasing dosages (20+ years) because gastric sleeve it is not just a 'stomach shrinker' but is a 'hormonal' surgery to remove the fundus and works on the hormone/setpoint/appetite/satiety side of obesity (result-cause) insulin resistance (result-cause) and the many hormones that impact appetite/satiety/homeostasis/regulation. Did extensive exploratory scientific research, online vendor research and preliminary phone calls with various North & Central Florida (and Mexico and Las Vegas) gastric sleeve surgeons/vendors. Based on the extensive information shared on FCWLC website and the extensive phone/email followups to my questions about the procedure, FCWLC were the best of the vendors I explored - they really want folks to know what's involved start to finish--not just for the surgery process, but for pre and post prep to be successful. Other vendors have a 'splash' web page and want you to call before you can get ANY information beyond what a gastric sleeve is and how to qualify for surgery/insurance. On any major life and health decision I like to know everything ahead to save myself and others time that we can spend our time on more detailed and specific questions on process/product/situation. After ruling out Las Vegas, Mexico, and states where I have family that I could stay with if necessary, I gave myself a 3hr radius from Jacksonville, FL to investigate surgeons/vendors. FCWLC was already in the lead based on extensive information provided on web, ability to schedule surgery quickly, and sharing the medical lab/clearance requirements upfront, not piecemeal. I also found they had very competitive self-pay outpatient pricing and offer multiple locations and virtual options to complete the required visits/training. There was one other place in Daytona that was 1k cheaper, but had more 'hoops' and physical trips to Daytona for preliminary specialist visits, training, etc, 2-3 month wait for self-pay surgery. Once I added in the extra Daytona trips and specialist fees for the add-on consults and clearances, FCWLC was in the lead; but I needed to meet the surgeon to be sure. I googled Dr Peterson early in my vendor selection stage and was pleased with what I found. My virtual consult with him did not disappoint as he got into the science of hormones’ effect and how that is impacted long-term by the gastric sleeve. I had read most of his recommended readings/papers that address the how/why/what mechanisms that impact/resolve setpoint/metabolic/obesity disorders – (Taubes, Fung, Malhotra) and know this is the only option for my long term desire/success for mitigating metabolic disease, lessening/stopping medications but only if I continue my long history of doing the other lifestyle things correct to live longer and healthier. FCWLC and Dr Peterson will be my chosen partner for this journey and I will post after my upcoming surgery. (NOTE: I also explored GLP-1 drugs in past and about 2 weeks when it is out of your system, EVERYTHING is reversed (weight, glucose, BP, etc) and gets worse than before, including hunger and control. Also, I was exploring a clinical trial for GLP-1, GIP and amylin combo drugs and would be long term 68-104 week commitment, no guarantee I would be selected for the drug vs non-drug group, which drugs/dosage, and benefits of drug would most likely stop a few weeks after last dose then would be back where I started. I wanted a more permanent option after I honestly can say I HAVE BEEN DOING THE WORK, and cant get below 34BMI and off BP/chol/gluc meds on my own.)
