List of Charles Luxenberg's Reviews
My husband and I both went to Dr Luxenberg for a number of years. He was always in a hurry. But the reason we stopped going to him is that we got tired of the far right political indoctrination from the moment you walk in the office. From bobble heads and pictures on the walls to the Fox News blaring through-out the office. This inappropriate behavior makes me question his judgement. I do not go to my doctor's offices for political purposes. He gets to run his office any way he likes. We just won't be returning.
I got right in when my appointment was scheduled. Staff was excellent in manners and efficiency. Dr. Luxenberg examined my eyes and answered my questions. I trust him with my sight as I only have one good eye. Could not ask for better treatment.
I have been with this doctor for way too long. Finally hit the last straw. From the Trump bobble heads and pictures of Sarah Palin on the walls to the blaring Fox News broadcasting in the waiting area, I've had enough torture. I brought my 83 yr old mother in from her ALF for a visit last week. The office staff insisted that her Medicare was not primary and the charge would be over $300. I insisted her Medicare WAS primary. We ended up leaving. The office manager complained that this could have been cleared up if I answered her phone calls on Friday. I DID call her back immediately on Friday at 10 am three times and got an "office closed" recording. I actually called the answering service after their 3rd call and they would not put me thru because they said the office was closed. I called Medicare this afternoon to make sure I wasn't crazy. Guess what? Her Medicare is Primary. As I knew it was. That's just a lazy office staff. What a nightmare!
In 2018 during a routine eye exam for glasses I was informed that I had glaucoma. I had heard the term but really didn't know anything about it. Well I was in need of another pair of glasses so I made the appointment and was told that I had glaucoma. I told the Dr. that I had already been treated for it so there must have been a mistake. When I left I was angry that I had been led to believe that the glaucoma had been taken care of two years prior. I had started to have difficulty seeing and that is one of the reason I made an apt for new glasses. I immediately called Florida Eye Specialists and explained that I had laser surgery performed by Dr. Luxenberg in 2018 for glaucoma and was now being told that I still had it. They scheduled an appointment for me to come in and I told them that I would not pay for the office visit which my co-pay is quite expensive . I had to leave work to go for this appointment and the first thing that happened was they tell me my insurance wasn't accepted there. Okay, I thought it was the same insurance I used in 2018 however; it shouldn't matter since I thought they understood that I wasn't going to pay the co-pay for an evaluation. The front desk person went to get the Doctor who proceeded to tell me that glaucoma is not curable only treatable and that he would never tell a patient that it was curable but would have to be treated probably for life. I explained that after my treatment he had me coming back for follow-ups and each time he said that I was healing nicely. After the third follow-up and being told that everything was good I stopped the follow-ups. Not once did he ever tell me that I would have to continue to come in for check-ups since this is a non-curable disease. He never had me sign any papers acknowledging the seriousness of this and the follow-up care would be probably life long. He stated once again that it wasn't curable for which I told him that being the doctor he should have told me not expect for me to know. I also explained that I had been having problems with my vision and was concerned that I could lose my eyesight and felt fortunate that I hadn't up to this point. He finally said that it was to bad that they didn't take my insurance or he would take a look at me. He was more concerned with getting paid then trying to reassure or help a patient. He finally said that he would see me and that it was a 300.00 value between his services and that of the front desk. I felt like I was on a game show. I told him that it would be no good to see him since it wouldn't accomplish anything. As I turned to leave I heard the woman at the front desk yell have a great day in that sarcastic tone. So if you want to go to a Dr. that cares more about money than the care of his patient or that would barter his services or allow his staff to make sarcastic remarks then he is the doctor for you. He is just lucky that I didn't lose my eyesight or I would be consulting an attorney. I still might given the fact that I have been having trouble with my eyesight and what I have already lost can' be recovered.
Very rude to have Fox News blaring throughout the office, even in exam rooms when the doctor was checking my eyes.
He really cares about making the right decisions and in understanding all of your issues. He is great
Extremely knowledgeable about numerous other specialties besides his own. I have been with him for many years and would never dream of going to anyone else!
ETHICAL knowledgeable and experienced physician and medical staff. The practice always takes the necessary time with each patient. As a patient you will always feel important and never rushed along through your exam or care.Dr. Luxenberg is the BEST in the area!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
