I dont this this is the doctor you want if you want a vaginal birth, I think he is knowledgeable, and overall is a good doctor, but he is not the type of doctor to be more open towards a womens body taking control of the birth. His bedside manner could improve, but he is not mean or disrespectful, I basically have a love and hate relationship with him, my experience was not the one I wanted and Im still angry because of that, but sentiment and angryness aside, he is a doctor that knows his stuff, he will not risk your health, and will not go beyond what he already knows, he must have his reasons....
Dr. Pena is excessively coarse yet ends ever visit with an "everything is ok, mama" as if that would make up for his rudeness. He discourages any research mothers do upon their pregnancy because he rushes through the visits and does not like answering questions. He also uses scare tactics as "you're risking a still birth" even when the pregnancy is going fantastically healthy. He will make you feel foolish if you ask questions that he thinks are stupid. He is not delicate or careful with scared and worried moms. He pushes induction and does not like to wait for labor to unravel naturally. He will walk into the delivery room gloves on and ready to slice you up. But hey! If you need rushed appointments and an emergency C-section, he's your guy. This doctor needs some classes on positive and effective interpersonal communication.
the best doctor!!!!!!
I went to Winnie Palmer triage after being rear ended; and by the way my 2013 vehicle being a total loss. You can imagine the magnitude of the wreck. They seat bealt tighten around my belly causibg severe pain, period like cramps. I was very worried for my 5 month old baby and ran to the ER. Waited for 2 hours only for Doctor Pena to ask me ' what are you doing here? The only way your baby could be affected in a wreck is if you suffere pelvic fracture. You are fine go home'. I complaint to my Doctor who is the best of the best and he recommended me to google this doctor and is incredible the level of incompetence. This proof he only does this work for the $$$ very sad 'Dr' Pena.
I was some other doctors patient. Went to hospital to be evaluated. He came in the room and gave me his card and told me, do yourself a favor and come see me. Wow he is lacking knowledge all over. He basically stole me from the other doctor. The other doctors in his group are a joke specially the guaranty gigantic one. All they care about is money and do procedures on you that you do not need. Hope my other doctor picks me up again.
Dr. Pena was my doctor through my entire pregnancy. I must say I have never in my life has a doctor treat me so wonderful. This was my 3rd child, and my 1st csection due to babies size and not progressing in labor. He felt like a friend, and it is the first time I have ever had a doctor call me personally to check to see how I was doing the day after my csection. I will never have another doctor or office other than dr. Pena at the Womens center. Amazing place and people!
If you are looking for a c-section, this is your doctor, he is eager (and will make that clear) to slice and dice you. He would rather you do a "quick c-section and be walking out the next day". If you want to deliver naturally, this is not the doctor for you. He is not known for his bedside manners when he has to wait for you to deliver. I should have listened to the advice of the nurses at Winnie Palmer and switched after I got stuck with him since my doctor was out on leave - now I have a terrible birthing experience because of him trying to rush my first pregnancy and YELLING at me when the nurses were catering to my requests and not his. In the end, the Dr. is looking for the way to get the most $ in the least amount of time, c-sections! Look elsewhere ladies, do not settle for this treatment.
Dr Pena is a wonderful man! He was kind and gentle when I saw him at winnie Palmer triage today. I am 12 weeks and started bleeding. He checked me and my baby with kindness and concern. When all checked out well he congratulated me and blessed me and my baby. Great great man!
Dr. Pena saw me in the Saint Cloud office about a month ago when I was suffering from a UTI infection. Was kind, attentive, and answered all my questions. Didn't rush which was nice!!
Id been twice at winnie palmer, for different pregnancies, Dr. Peña does not have the kindness that a pregnant woman needs, he is rude when he let you know what is going on with you and your baby. On my first miscarriage I was advice to go to the er at winnie palmer if after 4 o 5 days the baby does not come out by it self. So I went to the E.R at WP and the first question of Dr. Peña was " what are you doing here? you are not bleeding to dead ...there is nothing that we can do" . NO the nicest words especially when you have a dead baby in your uterus for more than 10 days!!!. My second experience wasn't nice either. Emotions of a miscarriage are so strong that the last thing that you really need is a cold Dr. treating you as Dr. Peña did! He should be doing something else!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
