List of Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola's Reviews
I had an appendectomy here about 3.5 months ago, on 06/10/2023. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience except for one problem, which I will get to at the end. For now, I am just about fully recovered and wanted to write a review to thank some of Sacred's employees for their care, who were incredible. I wanted to thank Dr. Cullison, who was the doctor who saw me at the emergency room. She was extremely kind and thorough. At some point, the abdominal pain that took me to the hospital began to subside, and I thought I might not have appendicitis after all. In spite of that, she still investigated it through to the end. I also wanted to thank surgeon Hawks, who was a real star for ridding me of my inflamed appendix. He was very knowledgeable and always gave detailed explanations related to the surgery plus its recovery. He went over the physiology, risks, cited percentages, and more. I was very appreciative of having a full picture of the procedure, as opposed to receiving some overly simplified explanation. I wanted to thank two nurses: my pre-op nurse, Elaine, and the recovery room nurse who took care of me, who goes by T. T., especially, was extremely caring. I am a little embarrassed to say that the anesthesia had quite the weird effect on me, as I would not stop talking and.... well... cursing. In spite of that, she was always very attentive and gave excellent discharge instructions. It was really inspiring to see how good my care was. I say this because I know, from first-hand experience, that when we see good care, it is due to the individuals, not so much due to the system. In fact, more often than not I know people are fighting against the system to do a good job. And speaking of a system, I wanted to get to my one problem that I mentioned in the very beginning. It's this: hand hygiene! Almost none of the ER nurses cleaned their hands when entering or leaving my room -- not even when handling my IV. What's more, they did so without gloves. This is very risky, as having an infection come through you veins can end up very badly. I do want to point out that, in spite of this problem, all the nurses were very kind. Still, hand hygiene is fundamental. Its lack happened so often in the ER that I figured maybe some department-wide intervention could help - hence why I mentioned the "system." At least I did see better hand hygiene in other parts of the hospital. I do want to finish with a shout out to the transport employee who took me to my ultrasound, who was the first person I saw putting on gloves at the ER.
This is a horrible place! Don't put your loved one here!
Nice try, Ascension, getting my review suppressed. Here it is again: If you’re looking to die, come here. My husband had to come here when he had a nauseous episode dry heaving on the trip down from home to vacation. The place was a total zoo with the emergency waiting room busting out the seams. We were there the entire day before he was checked into a room. He wasn’t the only one. Three months later, and my friend has medical issues while on vacation. He had severe sciatica nerve pain and labored breathing due to having COVID. It was so bad he couldn’t walk. Went to this hospital twice, once by ambulance. They did not admit him and discharged him each time right away. So, the next time we needed to call 911 (third hospital trip), we chose to have him sent to a different hospital, who promptly diagnosed him with a blood infection and pneumonia, and admitted him to the hospital. The one benefit is they have a nice Dillards across the street, but when you’re nearly dying and you’re broke from having been in the hospital, who wants to go shopping?
Good, neurology service, dependable doctor
My nurses, staff, and Dr's were awesome and treated me with excellent professionalism and patient respect. I will always be grateful.
Ascension billing is a nightmare. They close their offices at 4:00 even though their office is supposed to be open till 4:30. I had a bill that was less than 6 months old and they sent me to collections. I paid them off in full but then I got a letter from the collections agency stating that I owed Ascension money. I explained I paid in full. They told me I had to get a copy of my bank statement proving that I made the payment. I tried to call Ascension but of course they're closed at 4:00 on monday. Horrible to do business with and I'll never go back to Ascension
If you are a driver for any service or app do not service this hospital. They will dump homeless people onto you and send them to random addresses because they do not care. They are just trying to get rid of them. In addition I picked up a passenger and they canceled the ride half way through. My passenger and I then called them and they accused me of being the wrong driver and said she got into the wrong car and they weren’t paying me anything. She was a case worker with the observation unit and she was extremely rude and yelled at me. Mind you I already confirmed with my company I was the correct driver and I had proof she was in my que from the point of me accepting the ride to picking the passenger up and then to the cancellation. This also put me in danger as a driver as we do not personally know the passengers. Completely unacceptable.
I was expecting good care but I was wrong, I recieved Great care! From walking in for extensive tests to walking out, I felt extremely important and currently I feel like telling everyone that this hospital from staff to Dr's are "The Best". Please Keep up the great quality of care that I've come to know. THANKS AGAIN.
Beyond horrible ER for an out of state visitor! Dont go here!!Ascension sent my uncle away twice, saying he had COVID. He went by ambulance to another area hospital because he couldn't breathe the day after he was released. These docs diagnosed him with pneumonia and blood infection! He would have died at Ascension! Shame on you all!
I recently gave birth to my baby girl at Sacred Heart and the level of care was amazing. I had such a great team of nurses who were attentive and asked if I was comfortable or needed anything. They were all very kind and helpful when I asked questions or made any requests. I don’t regret my experience here and would recommend it for expectant mothers. The only downside was the rooms being a little outdated. Initially I had been placed in a room that was spacious with bathroom that had a bidet but I had to be switched out of that room to a room (for a good reason albeit) that was smaller and didn’t have a bidet but wish it did. Other than that, it was still a great experience because of all the medical professionals who cared.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
