Dr. Lord agreed to see me after complications from a lap band surgery performed by another Doctor . He is a highly intelligent, caring, professional. He is the Best of the Best !

Dr. Lord and his NP are very kind and attentive, but dealing with his office staff has been a nightmare. Nobody returns calls, nobody answers the phone - calls go straight to voice mail, billing dept is applying my surgery payment to some administrative fee and now I’ve overpaid but they won’t issue a refund. Although I’m very happy with the surgeon, the office staff has me not wanting to ever return. I had a minor complication after surgery and nobody has ever called me back. Not very reassuring at all.

I was referred to Dr. Lord by my gastro doctor due to barretts esophagus and acid reflux with a hiatel hernia. Dr. Lord barely looked at those issues in my chart at my first visit all he was concerned about was "We are doing gastric bypass otherwise anything else won't work" I'm always one to listen to a doctor so ok... a month or so later I decided that's not what I wanted, he said it would make me lose 100lbs...I managed to lose 15lbs on my own and the dietician said that I wouldn't need that surgery. A lot didn't sit right with me so I emailed his staff told them I didn't want it. I contacted my gastro doc and they said I don't need it and that not what the referral was for. So Dr. Lord requested I get an EGD done so he did that said he couldn't find the hernia and since then has had his staff calling me to get me to come in to discuss gastric bypass. What part of I DONT WANT THIS SURGERY did he not understand. My gastro doc is sending me to another surgeon in another state. This is ridiculous!!!

18 Years Ago, He SAVED MY LIFE! As a military surgeon, Dr. Lord told me the hard truth, with kindness and compassion. At my 6 month check up, he told me I could NOT keep sneaking in to those Cocoa Krispies. Eighteen years later, I'm still doing well. I owe him so much gratitude and will get to FL to say "Thank YOU" in person one day soon! It's worth the trip! I'm so glad our paths crossed at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center! Andrea A'Jay Scipio

DR. Lord and everyone that works for the office are beyond amazing. 2yrs out from my surg and my weight loss goal achieved. I am healthier and so much happier. Thanks team Lord!!

I was in a hospital where little was being done for an obstructed bowel. Family members contacted Dr. Lord. Even though it was late in the day, he suggested an immediate transfer so he could care for me. He took me immediately to surgery and found that over a foot of small intestine had died and needed to be removed and sepsis had already set in. Had surgery been delayed, I would have died. Dr. Lord saved my life! He and/or his assistant checked on me every day I was in the hospital. They were so kind and took excellent care of me. Even at my follow up appointment, Dr. Lord was attentive, professional, and very thorough. Dr. Lord has that name for a reason. I will forever be a fan of his!

Dr. Lord is not just a great surgeon, but one of the very BEST surgeons in the Bariatric field. I did a lot of research and chose him for my surgery in 2016. I have a close friend and two family members who have also used Dr. Lord. We have all lost a tremendous amount of weight without any complications! Because he specializes in bariatric surgery, very very few of his patients experience complications from surgery. After surgery, his patients go to the Bariatric Floor of the hospital. All of the nurses and staff on this floor are specifically train to work with Bariatric patients. I highly recommend Dr. Lord and the program at Ascension Sacred Heart Surgical Weight Loss Center!

Dr. Lord is an amazing surgeon!!!!!! I would recommend him to everyone if I could. I had surgery almost 3 years ago HAD NOT ONE PROBLEM with my surgery. I have lost 100lbs and has maintain since then. His staff is always friendly and helpful when I call or in the office.

Great surgeon! People are upset because hes not warm, hes just a very factual doctor, hes not here to help with our emotions or insecurities, that's what therapists are for. He did great with my procedure and after care.very smooth procedure and very little pain after. The ladies in the office and the medical assistant are seriously the sweetest people and the nutritionist is available to talk and help all the time

I am warning everyone to do your homework. I had revision surgery that was a gastric sleeve. From the end of July 2019 I stayed sick due to what may have neen negligence. A hole appeared out of the dark in my esophagus. I was hospitalized in two different hospitals for a little over 2 months with no hope of a repair on the hole. I was then moved to a nursing facility. I was there a little over two months. And the saga goes on. I am having to have revision surgery in August. At that point I may be able to eat a month or two later my last meal was 7/28/2019.. Go somewhere else. The Mayo clinic in Jacksonville is going to do my surgery.
