Honestly, this was probably one of the worst physicians my father could've had. He first saw Dr. Rao in the ER at Gulf Breeze Hospital for a large cavitary mass in his lung in April of 2020. He was sent home with a diagnosis of necrotizing pneumonia and given 90 days of antibiotics. This diagnosis came without a bronchoscopy. My father was told that by doing a bronchoscopy, all that would be seen was infection. After receiving NO follow-up from this doctor, my Dad called numerous times to get in to see Dr. Rao again since he still wasn't feeling any better. He was unable to see him, but was able to schedule with a NP that had no additional information for him other than he needed a bronchoscopy. After another week of not feeling good, he was again admitted to the hospital through the ER where a bronchoscopy was finally done. We received a diagnosis a few days later of non-small cell lung cancer. After meeting with an oncologist who was amazing in scheduling tons of different things in
Dr Rao is knowledgeable and caring. He looks a you as a whole person and gets the big picture. Wish he were a primary care doctor!
I didn't feel like Dr. Rao was listening to me. He was fixated on my insomnia when I was there for asthma. His staff had scheduled me for a pulmonary function test. When I showed up for the appointment, they didn't have it in their system. I showed them the appointment sheet in their handwriting and they still had to reschedule me. I had taken time off from work and driven across town for this. Now this will cost me more time and a 2nd follow up appointment. Not happy.
I was recommended to Dr. Rao because I seem to fall asleep all of the time, sometimes during a conversation. During my first visit, Dr. Rao suspected I might have sleep apnea. I went and did the whole sleep center bit (bring your own pillow; theirs were as flat as my hand), but was not told or even given the option of a "free-standing" sleep center. My bill for this one time deal was $1,500 out of pocket (plus $100 total for only two office visits). Should I have checked my insurance first? Of course. But again, I wasn't even given the option. During my second office visit, I was told I did not have sleep apnea, but was being set up for a daytime sleep study to find out how often I fall asleep. With a condenscending tone, Dr. Rao told me to keep a "sleep journal" for three weeks prior to the study, plus wear a bracelet during the same amount of time to see if my sleep journal and when I was actually falling asleep matched up. Like I was lying about falling asleep all of the time? I came to Dr. Rao for help, but it seemed to me he just wanted a paycheck. After getting the hefty bill, I called back to see if I could try a perscription that Dr. Rao was considering putting me on, and THEN was told that a "free-standing" sleep center would only set me back about $50. Seriously? That couldn't have been mentioned sooner? My chart clearly stated that I was separated, and I had mentioned just moving here. Being in my 20's, newly single, and just moved, I'm obviously not Ms. Money-bags. Being that I'm anti-medical collection, I paid the bill as soon as I got it. Now I don't have the money to get the help I need. I'd recommend seeing another specialist if you are experiencing my same issues; Dr. Rao obiously isn't in the people business.
was dignoised with nap/cat.i had no life prier to seeing him slept my life away had hallusination it seem night after night.he help me so much with this disorder, though i know i cant drive when i have sleeping spells, but he is caring and understanding doc.if it wasnt for him treating me to this day, honestly i dont think i would be alive, why cause this disorder was affecting my driving,. thanks to him i do have my life back
Dr. Rao was the admitting doctor to Select hosptial after being cared fro by Dr. Stringfield. Dr. Rao disregarded all transfer orders and caused my father-in-law to experience a set back of of 6 to 8 weeks. Dr. Rao admitted that he had not read my father-in-law's chart nor did he intend to read the chart "he did not have time for this"! Obviously the nurses at Select had not read the chart either. I supposse they were operating on the word of Dr. Rao who stated that ;my father-in-law had stage IV cancer and end stage COPD. Both of which were not true.
hes a caring doctor, and understands his patients needs.hes does nto rush to diganosing which i think is good he looks at the paitent as a whole

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
