Dr. Ilan Epstein recently performed a scheduled Cataract procedure which he completely botched. It was supposed to be a relatively standard 15 minute procedure. After the disastrous, over 2 hr procedure, it turned out he had permanently ruined the sight in that eye. A corrective procedure by an unrelated specialist in another hospital was necessary to partially restore sight in that eye. The recovery took months and sight has only been partially restored. If you value your sight – DO NOT USE DR. ILAN EPSTEIN!

I had problems with reading the chart during an exam at FL Eye. I was told the year before my eyes were good. This time I thought I would need new lenses since mine are 3.5 years old. Instead I was told I need cataract surgery, however I wasn't having any problems related to cataracts until I went to the office and had drops put in my eyes. Saw another Cataract Specialist and read much better. My eyes were examined and I just needed new lenses. Now I see 20/20.

Seldomly write a review, but had to let you know of my experience. Dr. Epstein and his staff were very professional, caring and informative of what was to transpire. I had cataract surgery and it was a huge success. If I could give more than five stars, I would.

Highly recommend Dr. Epstein along w/ his staff (esp. Tracy!) too. Been 2 months since getting Lasik surgery so enough time has lapsed to provide a truly accurate review. Entire process, rate and quality of results close to pic. perfect. Communication from day 1 to the present (Tracy mainly handled that part) could not have been more on point! Communication is a *very important factor when I decide to move forward w/ anyone regardless of the rate etc.. Tracy was super accessible, clear/concise, beyond patient, professional and personable. Could not have been more on point throughout the whole process! Days & weeks after surgery left eye was sluggish & pretty swollen vs right eye which was basically 20/20 the next day! I'm super impatient but knew it's not uncommon for at least 1 eye to not be in sync w/ the other as quickly as you'd like (or ever). Simply needed to heal. NOT overnight or even in a week or 2. Took about 1 month. Previously needed 3.0 readers. Now, 1.25 too strong!

Dr Epstein was amazing! My first surgical procedure and I was so comfortable and at ease. Dr Epstein comes highly recommended from several other doctors I know. Hands down #1 choice for eye procedure/ plastic surgery. Thank you!!!!

The initial consultation for the removal of my cataracts went well. He was pleasant, kind, and informative regarding the procedure. I felt well prepared for the procedure which went extremely well. On the day of the surgery, the surgical center at the Baptist Health facility answered any additional questions or concerns. I wasn't fearful of the surgery, I just wanted the expected outcome. Since having the surgery I have met or discussed with many individuals who are fearful of this surgical procedure. They are putting it off for various reasons that through discussion are all related to fear. Dr. Epstein's discussion with me before, during, and after the procedure fully supported my expectations. I was well-taken care of by all the medical professionals at Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute! My follow-up with Dr. Epstein this week exceeded my expectations. My eyes are fully healed with a perfect outcome in my vision, as stated in my initial exam!

Dr. Ilan Epstein is a great doctor. He removed my cataracts very efficiently with a great result. I can now see both near and far without glasses. Everything is so bright and the colors really pop -- almost neon. He and his staff are very professional and caring. His surgery co-ordinator was very helpful in making appointments for preop testing which was very trying during this pandemic. Tracy also gave me lots of tips that made my experience the best.

Dr. Ilan Epstein was wonderful. He did cataract surgery on both of eyes and after my first surgery of my left eye I developed an infection in my right eye which he took care of immediately and, after several weeks then proceeded with my second surgery. I recommend him highly and have told my family and friends about him should they need an ophthalmologist or a specialist in cataract surgery. Also, all the people I dealt with including his coordinator Tracy were very professional and very kind which I appreciated. Excellent experience and I thank you.
