List of Jose B Melo's Reviews
I first met dr Melo when I was in the hospital last year for a bilateral pulmonary embolism. He was kind & explained my symptoms thoroughly. Dr. Ghitis is my cardiologist & I feel he saved my life. Together I trust them completely. I first met another hemotologist before Dr Melo but fought to have him as my Dr after meeting him.
Great friendly, efficient staff, nurses and Dr's. Always welcomed and comfortable
I was referred to the office by my surgeon and before making an appointment I read the reviews. I was extremely hesitant to schedule because of the reviews/ ratings, but went ahead since the doctor I was supposed to see had a waitlist of 1.5-2 months. I will preface this by saying that this review has absolutely nothing to do with the care (I have yet to receive any treatment), only the management of the office. I had my first appointment on 12/30/2022 and when I went to the office I offered to provide them with my updated insurance information to which they said they could not accept any new insurance information until after the new year. If that’s their policy, I don’t have an issue with that. The issue I do have is them attempting to call me 2 days before my scheduled appointment (1/13) to verify the insurance knowing it takes 3-7 days to get authorization. When I called the office to speak with the office manager to express my concern and disappointment because I could no longer start my chemotherapy on the 13th, she confirmed the policy than proceeded to tell me that they had “166 patients” and blah blah blah. That’s not my problem though. They should have prioritized and delegated accordingly so this would never been an issue for me or any of their critically ill patients. Mind you, I have stage III cancer and I’m being told “to wait” because they didn’t do their job. I recommend anyone that has an urgent need to heed the reviews about the management of the office. Like I said, I can’t make any claims on the treatment as I have yet to be treated. I am currently “waiting” and looking for a different provider.
Jose B. MELO Not a doctor! He is moneymaker! He refuses to help and treat if insurance pay not enough money for his appetite!
My mom passed a few weeks after starting chemo and three different trips back and forth to the hospital. At first I thought Dr. Melo was actually a caring person. He continue to tell me my mom can have treatment even while she was dying and other doctors was saying to put her in hospice. If you need a doctor/facility who will take every step to ensure your treatment is working for you as opposed to killing you I would not recommend this office. the money is what they care most about not the patient. Some of the nurses are extremely rude, would not even say good morning when I brought my Mom in for treatment.
Staff is so important. Dr. Melo had a Staff member covering for his assistant. That is why I had difficulty, Dr, Melo personally called me and set up my treatments and was apologetic. He is caring and most proficient
Great Attention from Dr. Melo, His through explanation about my exam and the action plan and further exams to be perform was outstanding. I found my self very fortunate for the presence of an another doctor on training during my consultation. Preparing the next generations!! As soon Dr. Melo had my results from exams. He call me, personally and give me the results and answer all my questions. I fully recommend him . He's fully committed with his patients.
Dr. Melo has a terrible bedside manner. He lacks the ability to connect with his patients during the most challenging time in their lives. Cancer requires treating both the disease AND the fears of one’s patient. If you don’t ask a specific question, Dr. Melo won’t reveal important information. He does NOT empower the people he treats. I went home bereft of hope, and confused about the nature of the treatment and cancer. Moreover, the student intern is a huge distraction and arrogant. Patients should be asked whether a student doctor can be present in their appointment—especially when seeing a doctor for the first time. Building trust is critical, and that can’t be accomplished when one feels like a mere guinea pig. Teaching a student isn’t more important than making a patient comfortable. I do NOT recommend this doctor.
I Have been a patient of Dr. Melo for about 11 years now and I highly recommend him. He has literally saved my life. He is a wonderful Doctor and has always been friendly. His office staff is very professional.
Dr.Melo and the staff are just the right kind of people for this job. Caring, kind and understanding that you are possibly the most afraid you have been. Cancer ain't for sissies

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
