Banyan Treatment Centers - Pompano's Online Review Report Card

I suspect the positive reviews here are false. Business owners will resort to that when actual reviews are nonexistent or very poor. Perhaps this once was a decent center- but I can only evaluate it based on my own experience which was awful. I came out of this center feeling more traumatized than I have ever felt in my life. I was called names by other patients, accused of planting drugs, it goes on. Unresponsive management keeps their head in the sand. I would not go here again unless it was my sole and hopeless last option. Even then I would have to be dragged by my hair. You can do far better.

This center profits off of pain. The Director of the Center himself told me that he got out of the non-for profit sector and into a private center because the margins were so much higher. I would respect that if they channeled some of the profits back into a better experience and more favorable outcomes for the patients. I'll start with a positive. The center is located in a very nice downtown area of the affluent suburb of Naperville. It makes the coming and going at the center a little bit nicer. They do have an affiliation with a nice yoga studio and they allow patients to go there every other week for free. There are a few senior members that are highly empathetic and passionate about the work they do for the center. Deanna and David, left a very positive impression.  And I'm grateful for the inspiration that they provided. I do appreciate the fact that they offered a wide range of lecture topics ranging from nutritional to smoking cessation to what essentials you would pack to survive on Mars. My biggest trepidation with the center was poor skills in communicating financial obligations and completely unacceptable state of their housing. I offered many suggestions to the directors and small cost-effective ways that could convert those tiny apartments into something that feels like it offers a few small comforts of home. The roach hotels in the kitchens are a bit offputting. There is no need to cram three or four anxious women into one small apartment when you have plenty of vacancy. There are cigarette butts littering the balconies and the grounds. Any apartments themselves smell like dirty ashtrays. The Texan housing or a mixed bag. The ones that I felt were most helpful were the ones that worked the late night shift. They maintains an open door policy and I used them for free counseling services when I could not sleep. I was so grateful for their listening ears. Policies and housing were broken left and right. Drug use was rampant. Not so much among the patients but the actual techs themselves.  Patients were being given the wrong meds. Patients were stealing from one another. And it was not unusual to have patients go missing in the middle of the night wandering the streets. I was harassed and bullied and a victim of racial slurs. One Tech took me to a very unsafe narcotics anonymous meeting where one of the members appeared to have a gun. I had asked to go to a Christian AA meeting. A member from the Christian AA group told me I was a sinner and needed to repent because I was anorexic as a result of sexual trauma as a teen.  He told me I was guilty of the sin of vanity. Believe me I could write a book about the center. But I am a journalist and author who aspires to do something much greater than waste my breath. I hope the center course corrects because they could do so much more to actually help people.  In the meantime if anyone is looking for a top notch substance abuse and mental Health Center I highly recommend Hazleden. The costs are about the same. The facility is so much nicer. And it is highly recognized as the number one center for this type of treatment in North America. Why settle for less?

I called to find out about treatment for a loved one. They were only interested in our insurance plan and our money. They called me three times to tell me that they had a bed available in a 12 hour period even though I told them that we were looking at other programs. This is wrong!!!! A person should go to a rehab program that best fits their needs not the treatment place wallet!!!!I would highly recommend not contacting them!!!!

This is not a dual diagnosis rehab as advertised. The counselors are inexperienced and will have you watch YouTube videos for counseling. They base treatment release dates on your insurance, not your MH/Addiction needs. People would jump the fence, get drugs and then be allowed to come back.  A person OD' on Thanksgiving day. It's a fight to see a case manager.  I didn't see one for almost two weeks and I had to go to her office and just sit down to even see her.  Please find a better treatment facility.

amazing staff, great groups, loved the way things were ran and the therapists are amazing!! Banyan truly made me understand how important my recovery was, so greatful to the staff and the director!! Thank you all so much

Banyan and the amazing staff go all out to help those hurting in the community. They make an impact on lives for sure! A blessing to so many! I know Anthony Acampora personally and he puts his entire heart 💜 into his work! God bless you all 🙏

Called for treatment and although requested - found on the 3rd day I was sent to an out of network facility in Boston, MA vs. in network as requested.  Overall treatment was good although the tech support staff in certain cases were in less sobriety than the patients claiming to be in Recovery, unprofessional language and demeanor including gossip among staff and other patients, and very loud especially at night when people were in bed.  High volume of turnover and staff did not feel like their voice was heard properly.  Inconsistent rules and some of the nurses were exceptionally rude (Wendy) and not appropriate.  Patients were not always treated as equals.Grateful to the group facilitators, therapists and doctors there and mostly disappointed by:1)  Talked into staying for "quality care" that seemed to be a step down of free-at home detox treatment, costing thousands out of pocket.2)  Customer facing roles not requiring longer sobriety length and lack of general professionalism with support staff.

I spent 40 days at Banyan Pompano Beach. I received some of the best care I’ve ever had and was treated with respect as well as understanding. Going to Banyan Pompano Beach truly saved my life. I could go on for days but I will spare you all the details and just say that I highly, highly recommended Banyan Pompano Beach!

Overall it was a fantastic learning and growing experience. The staff genuinely cares about the patients. If you put in the effort, and really try, you cannot help but walk away from Banyan with tools that will help you fight the addictions that haunt you.I wish there was a little more structure for the initial orientation and getting started, but you easily catch on within the first several days there.The counselors are genuine and challenge you on a regular basis.The housing is comfortable, and being able to cook for yourself and buy the groceries you want is a big plus.The rules are strict, and the near complete cut off from the rest of the world is rough, but I don't think I would have gotten as much out of it without having that set routine.Thank you Banyan.

My son went to Banyan and I as a mother can't say enough good things about the center very caring staff and support if you're even thinking about this facility in Florida please don't hesitate to put your loved one there!!!!!! they also offer Family Services to support via text or call. Caleb is absolutely an asset to Banyan he has supported me with phone calls and questions returning my calls immediately texting immediately this young man deserves recognition he has definitely made an impact in this journey for me with wonderful advice day or night and I want to thank him by leaving this review... again if you're looking for placement for a loved one choose Banyan definitely five stars
