List of Matthew Kay's Reviews
Very thorough, communicates well, personable, former Baskin-Palmer teaching staff.
I had a very unusual vision loss due to a medical accident. I saw several neuroopthalmologists who could not figure it out. Dr Kay listened very carefully, tested thoroughly and was able to diagnose what had happened. Several years later, I have been extremely lucky to have recovered, and will always be extraordinarily grateful.
I felt Dr Kay was a very knowledgeable and personable doctor. He explained everything in terms I understood and answered all my questions. Examination was very very extensive. All staff were very friendly and And did a great job. They made me feel very welcome and important. Most of all everyone had a smile and happy office. I recommend .
Dr. Kay was referred to me be my Eye Dr. because I had double vision, we had a video conference, and he diagnosed my symptoms as a weak nerve that will heal by itself in few months, then he said to have another conference in three weeks, here where the problem occurs, when his employee called to schedule the second conference, I declined and informed her that I was out of work and can't afford the cost, beside the Good Dr. said it will heal by itself, she replied that because it is a video conference the cost is covered completely by the insurance Co., and I should voice my concern to the Dr. himself, so I accepted, well the second conference I became a study subject to one of his residence student, again with no treatment of any kind, when I confronted the issue, he said may a prizim glasses of something like that will correct the issue, made an appointment at his office in Ft. Lauderdale. when I arrived the staff was very disrespectful, joking about my name and too relaxed with their comments, then hit me with a bill for what they said it was covered completely, at that point I realized I am dealing with deceptive practice, and walked out, emailed his Secretary and voiced my concern with no reply at all, very bad experience, the staff is a non professional staff
Tried to make appointment for 2 days, rude personal like literally all of them. Was on hold more than 45 minutes. Rude , feels like it is not doctors office... I’m glad I never made appointment
I should sue this guy for emotional abuse. Arrogant, sexist and above all self-serving, he insisted I had MS ( I dont!) without a shred of evidence so he could refer me to his so called MS dr, upon which I discovered he has quite a profitible little pipeline going. He then diagnosed me with an eye issue he said was "stress" and to ignore it which was patently absurd, not to mention insulting- (the genesis has since been diagnosed by a more competent dr)
I was referred to Dr Kay several years ago and again today. I quit going to see him after the 2nd or 3rd visit because his office/administration/ support staff were so horrible, and actually beyond rude that I quit going to him. I did complain once and was met with indifference. So, today I was referred to Dr Connor in Palm Beach Gardens. I was told by his very helpful and friendly staff that he did not do eyelids anymore and they were referring patients to Dr Kay. Wow...I decided to look up the reviews on Dr Kay to see if things had improved. The first review I read stated, "HORRIFIC," front desk personal. He went on to state that he left before seeing the doctor. The horror story sounded so much like my past experience"s" that was over 7 years ago...I found it so astounding that I decided to write a review cautioning people regarding this office. It seems that nothing has changed. Now, what do I do? One thing is for sure I won't subject myself to the incompetence, rudeness and disrespect of this office staff just to see Dr Kay. Don't get me started on the long wait times...I highly recommend you find a different doctor until they make some radical changes with regard to their office staff. I would suggest firing them all and starting with a fresh slate.
I wish I could say something about the doctor himself but the truth is we never got to see him. His office staff is HORRIFIC. After witnessing one girl being rude to her coworker on the phone, another shaking her head at a gentleman that wanted to be seen and had been denied asking “is he really going to ask again?” and as I approached them one of the girls held up her finger to me to stop me from saying anything. All I know is I will never return to this office and I will never refer this doctor to anyone I care about. They not only denied seeing us due to some paperwork bogus issue that should have been handled by their office 2 months prior after waiting for three months for an appointment and driving two hours to their Ft. Lauderdale office they acted like this was an everyday occurrence. No sympathy, no solutions. I hope their dad or grandpa never have to get referred to an office like theirs after suffering a stroke! Just plain disgusting.
Waited for 45 Minutes past a 9:30 appointment. Staff never said they were running late. When we asked they said he was running late. Waited another 15 minutes to not be called back. Staff was rude. We left without being seen. We asked for his manager who was not on site. She was not available at either number given for her. Messages were left. Five years ago we had an equally dismal appointment with dr Kay. Nothing has changed. Piss poor patient care. If you can get any cate.
Bedside Manner is horrible. I will never forget how insulting he was to my parents. Was so annoyed that my dad was asking questions regarding my mother's treatment. He yelled at my mother as well for asking questions. Both are almost 80 years old. Dr actually escorted us out and told us never to come back. One day I will share video of this if need. Another patient in waiting area taped it and gave to us.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
