I like Dr Garcia a lot, but my procedure did not go well and I am left with the scar. I liked him much better than his staff. I felt like a nuisance and it was hurtful.

Went to dr Garcia because I had some breathing issues after my dog made my septum slightly deviated. I recently declined a safe turbinate reduction procedure from another surgeon. During my consultation with Dr Garcia he recommended septoplasty and outfracture of my turbinates. Meaning he would just reposition my turbinates and not reduce, cut or burn them. He told me he would never touch turbinates because of how important they are and could cause life long issues if they were touched. I instantly felt safe with him and shook his hand and agreed to the surgery. Two weeks later I had the surgery and after 10 weeks of miserable symptoms I requested my medical records and found out HE PERFORMED A TURBINECTOMY ON MY MIDDLE AND INFERIOR TURBINATES. A very aggressive surgery that’s extremely uncommon especially on the middle turbinates. My life will never get better now and I’m only 30. He then terminated me once I mentioned how miserable I was.

PLEASE READ. Dr Garcia single handily ruined my life. I visited multiple surgeons for surgery consultations because I had a very slight deviated septum that affected my breathing. I’ve never had breathing problems my entire life until my dog injured my nose. The surgeon I saw before Garcia recommended a septoplasty and turbinate reduction that I declined because I never had a problem with my turbinates in my life and didn’t want to risk them getting burned or cut. (Turbinates humidity, moisture, sense the air you breathe in your nose). I met with Dr. Garcia and during the consultation he told me “you don’t want to touch your turbinates, it can lead to awful life long issues in your nose.” He told me he would perform outfracture on my turbinates meaning only reposition them, because burning or cutting can destroy the nasal mucosa. I instantly felt safe with him because of how he stressed the importance of taking a conservative approach and I already went in knowing that septoplasty and outfracture was exactly what I wanted and needed. So I shook his hand and agreed to the surgery. Two weeks later I had the surgery. On my follow up appt he said “I went ahead and cauterized your turbinates while I was in there”. It’s been 9 weeks since my surgery and I now experience the following symptoms every day: 1. Every breath is cold and stings 2. Nose no longer creates moisture and is dry and bleeds. 3. Foul smell in my nose 4. Decreased sense of smell 5. Being aware of every single breathe because it’s extremely uncomfortable 6. Yellow glue like crust that look like spider webs in my nose 7. Loss of concentration and ability to enjoy life because every breath is very unpleasant. Inside of nose is raw I requested my medical records because I knew something was wrong. Then I found out HE PERFORMED A TURBINECTOMY ON MY MIDDLE AND INFERIOR TURBINATES. This is a surgery that’s not even known in modern medicine anymore. Middle turbinates don’t even cause obstruction and he burned mine off. He told me he would perform the most conservative technique possible “outfracture” to performing the most aggressive surgery you can possible do a turbinectomy to both my middle and inferior turbinates. I confronted him about my symptoms and told him I felt “molested” by his actions. He had the audacity to respond to me telling me “ENS doesn’t exist” after telling me in the consultation that it does. He graduated 25 years ago and is still performing ancient methods of surgery like they did 25 years ago. Surgeons don’t perform turbinectomys anymore especially on the middle and inferior turbinates because of the complications they cause. Instead of being concerned for me he terminated our relationship and won’t answer any of my emails anymore. Told me if I showed up at his office I would be removed by authority. He then sent me a letter in the mail offering me $4650 but if I signed it I wouldn’t be allowed to speak of his name or leave reviews. I declined his offer because there is no amount of money that could take back what he did to me. And I would get more satisfaction from saving other people from going thru the distress I have been thru and the rest of my life my nose will never get better due to the ancient aggressive surgery technique he used on me.
