List of Andrew Weitzel's Reviews
Would not go there for anything. Called 4 days ago to make an appointment. Was told they needed to get my records, form who I ask having not been to a urologist. Said they would call back to set up appointment. So with this kind of treatment i would not take my dog there.
They were nice. Snip. Snip!
I was referred to Dr. Weitzel and was very impressed with his knowledge & plethora of resources for my husband. He took care of him and provided me with the tools to help nurse him back to health. However, the New manager named Kathy was rude, abrupt & kept referring to patients as “sweetie” in a patronizing tone. She was condescending and very dismissive with my questions which i did not experience from the previous manager.
Poor. Doctor is rough around the edges, but that's okay. Half the office staff is incompetent.
Honestly, I was a bit reluctant about seeing DR WEITZEL, after reading these horrible reviews. I have to say, I was so pleasantly pleased with his bedside manner, his thoroughness, and his making sure that l understood everything he talked to me about! May l also add, he allowed my niece, who is an RN, to attend my appointment via speaker phone, and he answered any questions that she had!! My thoughts on his bad reviews are, you can’t please everyone. Possibly one person didn’t care for him for one reason or another, then had all their friends & family write a bad review of Dr Weitzel. This DOES happen, unfortunately! I totally would refer anyone to him!!
Travelled from Englewood, FL to the 8:30 appointment at the Port Charlotte, FL, location on Olean BLVD. Walked in, receptioist asked "Do you have an appointmet?" I said Yes, with dr weitzel. She said "he is not here" asked Why didnt you call me ?" She said. " we are calling patients now, This is at 8:40 a.m. :( No apology, no I'm sorry nothing... I did not reschedule,, come to find out, he also has a practice in Englewood, FL, on Dr.s Drive.. TEN minutes ffom where I live, so WHY was I sent to PORt charlotte ?????
I saw Dr Weitzel one time; was given a second appointment 30 days from initial appointment. I called his office and spoke with his nurses both times during this 30 day wait time for 2nd appointment. I informed nurses, I was experiencing “Chronic urinary retention” every night; was getting up every hour throughout every night with an urgency to drain bladder; difficulty doing so. I was put on hold both calls; it was my impression, they went and spoke with Dr Weitzel both times. The first call, I was told my appointment was only in 2 weeks. My second call response from Nurse was “As long as you have a little urine discharge, you’re on the right road.” I suffered continuously the entire month; he was not going to see me whatsoever before the 30th day. Totally Unsatisfactory in my opinion.
Dr Weitzel has been my husband's urologist for 14 years. My husband was referred to him when diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Weitzel saw him immediately, communicated effectively and professionally with him, scheduled him for surgery within 2 days, removed the tumor perfectly, did appropriate levels of radiation based upon the cancer and my husband's personal physical profile. My husband followed up with visits every 6 months initially, then every year. Dr Weitzel always treated my husband with the level of caution, wisdom, skill and care that he would treat his own father. I attended most appointments. His staff was prompt and courteous, and Dr. Weitzel was not only patient with taking the time to answer any questions that my husband would have, but with my questions as well (I ask more questions than my husband). I cannot say enough good things about Dr Weitzel's treatment of my husband during that ordeal and have always been thankful that he was the Dr. my husband was sent to.
Presented to Weitzel with suspected UTI loss of kidney function shortness of breath. He said shortness of breath was covid. No uti. 48 hours later I'm hospitalized with clots and impaired kidney function. Idk what happened to weitzel other than he doesn't have time for patients and his reputation at bedside is awful he seems devoted to insulting patients, Dr. Weitzel has helped me previously however the risk to my health is too great to continue. Disappointing waste of time Requested kidney labs, denied. The practice is too big, Dr too busy to listen to an existing established patient, He rubber stamped me on UTI and that's why I'll be presenting his practice with thousands in diagnostics to him. Nursing staff overworked. Proceed with extreme caution
I was being prepared for surgery and told details about post-surgery that Dr. Weitzel didn't explain to me during the office visit to schedule the surgery. I was upset that I wasn't properly informed about post-surgery pain and care. Weitzel then refused to do the surgery.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
