List of Curtis Story's Reviews
When I moved to Charlotte Harbor in 2017 I needed a primary care physician. I looked over several area Physicians and selected Dr. Story's office on a trail basis. He always allows time for any subject that I may want to discuss and is very attentive to my needs. I just hope he stays active as long as I am around.
Update: Kim called this morning first thing, apologized for the issue, and made things right. Thank you very much. I am very discouraged at this moment with the staff at the Story Family Practice. My father is a 96 year old patient of Dr. Story. My father is scheduled for oral surgery and per his dentist, we have requested an antibiotic that needs to be taken prior to surgery. I contacted the office at the beginning of the week and was told they would speak with the doctor and return my call. Today is Friday, I have left several messages and actually drove to the office in person trying to speak to someone. The website stated they were open until 4:30, the doors were locked up tight. Now I will have to pay to take my father to a walk-in clinic just to get a prescription that simply could have been called in. I'm sorry Doctor Story, but your staff lacks professionalism.
UPDATE: TAKE NOTICE THAT WITH A BAD REVIEW IS FOLLOWED BY A SERIES OF EXCUSES THAT SHOW NOTHING IS EVER THEIR FAULT. Please be careful with the bill they send you as there are 2 examples on this site. If theyre 2 on the people that take the time to write down their experiences there must be many more. This is a Dr. That does not really want to be a Dr. He was absolutely no help what so ever. He told me because of New laws in Florida that the medication that I have been on for years and years would be just too much paperwork. What??? Isn't that your job? I highly recommend to choose another Dr. And not waste your time.
I commend Dr. Story and his staff for being so readily available to assist their patients through the trying times we have had over the last couple of years. The care I have received from this office has been nothing less than exceptional!
My wife & I have been a patient of Dr Story for over 2 years. While we have been satisfied with Dr Story himself, unfortunately we have lost faith in his office staff. On numerous occasions they have been instructed to forward time Critical records to my wife’s orthopedic surgeon & also her heart doctor which they never did after numerous calls from my wife as well as from the Drs offices. She was trying to schedule knee replacement surgery and this not only held it up but she had to take matters into her own hands to follow up when she really should not have to. Furthermore his office staff has seemed on numerous occasions to be clueless (Becca). They have been confusing, misleading & have downright lied to us. This is unfortunate because we believe Dr Story is a good Doctor. Unfortunately he has surrounded himself with a terrible administrative staff. Update to my review, 1 week later: We received a bill from Dr. story's office demanding $191.83. We called our Ins Co & they told us that is incorrect, we only owe the $10 copay. They even put us on hold & called the Dr office themselves & verified this. I should also mention that on the top of the bill Dr Story left a personal message which was aggressive & threatening. In it stated:"I saw your review online. You are discharged from our practice immediately. If your bill is not paid in 2 weeks, we will send you to collections - Dr. Story”. I am blown away by this. Are you kidding me? This is truly unbelievable & completely unprofessional. I went to the office today to settle up my account. I am soo done with that place. I am still in shock.
Update to my review. We received a bill from Dr. story's office demanding $191.83. We called our Ins Co & they told us that not only is that incorrect but it has all been paid for in full & we only owe the $10 copay. They even put us on hold & called the Dr's office themselves & verified this. I should also mention that on the top of the bill Dr Story left a personal message which was aggressive & threatening. In it was stated:"I saw your review online. You are discharged from our practice immediately. If your bill is not paid in 2 weeks, we will send you to collections. All bills are due upon receipt. - Dr. Story". I am blown away by this. Are you kidding me? This is truly unbelievable. I thought it was a scam. I went to the office today to settle up my account- $20 for 2 separate visits. I gave them a copy of the bill & they verified that it did come from their office. I am soo done with that place. I am still in shock.
I have a been a patient of Dr. Curtis Story's for over 10 years. I have appointments with Dr. Story and his staff every two months. Dr. Story orders blood work for a thyroid condition and Dr. Story will review lab results with me and explain and answer all my questions. Dr. Story makes me feel as if I am his only patient that day or a VIP. He will spend the time necessary to perform a complete exam. I am 60 years old and I as I age and medical needs change I am extremely confident I will be receiving the highest medical care possible through Dr. Story's practice. Which is very comforting. Dr. Story and his staff are extremely professional and at the same time friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable of their duties - from the receptionist to the nurse and up to Dr. Curtis Story - I always feel I am being well treated and and my medical needs are in the very good hands of Dr. Curtis Story and his staff. I consider myself very fortunate to be under their care. Recently I needed a medication refilled on very short notice as I would be traveling to Colombia on business. My usual CVS could not fill the script and in order for another pharmacy to fill the script I would need a new prescription called in to that pharmacy. This was on a Friday evening after 5 PM when I spoke to a member of the practice and explained my situation. I was told they would see what they could do. The pharmacy had not received the script and it was almost 6 PM. I assumed my request came to late and the office had gone home for the weekend. I called the office expecting the answering service and to my surprise Dr. Curtis Story answered the phone directly himself. He told me he had just called in the script and explained he was with a patient as to why it too so long. He let his staff go home for the weekend and he handled getting me my script personally. I was so appreciative. I do not think there are many Doctors who would stay late on a Friday evening to call in a non- life threating prescription. I like many others play Dr. Google before my doctor appointments. I would tell Dr. Story what my condition and illness was and he simply needed to do x, y, and z according Dr. Google. I have been wrong 100 percent of the time. Dr. Story always patiently listened to me before he told me what my actual illness or condition was - never showing annoyance with me. I think enjoyed proving me and Dr. Google wrong :-). Two years ago my son was home from UF during the holidays. He suffers from asthma and it was flaring up. He needed to see a Doctor. His primary care Doctor was in Gainesville and was not available. I called Dr. Story office and asked a favor if they could please see my son that day otherwise he would need to make a visit to an urgent care facility. Dr. Story made time to see my son that afternoon. He prescribed an inhaler and other medications. That same evening my son was out of distress thanks to Dr. Curtis Story and his staff. For those that read reviews I wanted to write this honest review of my experiences with Dr. Story and his staff. I could not be more pleased with the care I received over the years. I read the negative review which prompted me to write my review. I can not comment on that review only to say Dr. Curtis Story is an outstanding physician and our community is very fortunate to have his practice in Port Charlotte. The only thing that confuses me about Dr. Story is how an extremely educated and intelligence man always thinks the Notre Dame football team is overrated. :-)
I went to Dr. Story when I was bitten by a dog. I was given a tetanus shot which was necessary. I was sent several bills for this visit. I spoke to Medicare and was told that it was covered under Medicare Part B because it was medically necessary since I was bitten by a dog. I sent Dr. Story's office an email and asked them to resubmit the bill with the correct diagnosis code. Dr. Story even called me and told me that it wasn't covered and I needed to pay the bill of $92.18 which I paid immediately. He told me that he would give me the documentation if I wanted to resubmit the bill. That hasn't happened even after two written letters to his office. I don't understand since it was such a simple thing to do!!! So beware if you have an insurance problem!!
I've been with Dr. Story some 8 years now. I find him to be knowledgeable, friendly, and takes time to explain things in a caring manner. He is what you would want from a family physician. I find he is not an alarmist and is not big on ordering special tests unless the situation really warrants it. I'd highly recommend him. I have experienced some minor billing issues.
We've been patients with Dr Story since we moved to Port Charlotte four years ago. My husbad, my sister (a retired R.N.) and myself all love him. He always listens to concerns and is receptive to our input. We never ever feel rushed ... wait times are acceptable, and we feel we are in great hands for our care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
