Derrick Adams's Online Review Report Card

Because of Dr. Adam’s failure to communicate with me my father suffered a terrible death that could have been handled more humanely through a hospice referral. I’m haunted by my father’s last days. No dignity no loved ones and too much pain and anxiety.

My father was under his lack of care for four days and we never once got any communication with him. There is a list of things that went wrong. This guy doesnt care.

Dr. Adams is a hospitalist at Bayfront Port Charlotte. When a patients primary doctor does not make hospital rounds or is not on staff he is called in. He has been involved with my husbands health care more than once. This last time was terrible. Because of COVID we could not go with my husband. There was absolutely NO COMMUNICATION between our family and the doctor. My husband who has some dementia issues told one of the doctors his back hurt and they started treating his back when his problem was a bowel obstruction. They were going to give him more oral laxatives when he had had four at home plus a suppository. My husband had a list of his medications with him. My husband did not get any of his required insulin or heart medicine until the middle of the second day he was as the hospital. They finally started giving him all of his meds on the third day. I strongly recommend he start involving family members to learn background of patient before he treats them.

This doctor is a joke. Idk whats worse him or Bayfront Hospital. I went in not being able to keep anything down and left with no answers. Im not sure where he got his degree but Im pretty sure if someone cant keep water down you shouldnt give her pills to swallow. My PCP was smart enough to give me the dissolving tablets. I guess we cant all be geniuses.

he should not be practicingi wouldnt let him practice on an animal.he does not listen to what the patient has to say.he refuses to give the patient there normal medication.and he thinks im a drug seeker.the first time i ever had him i almost died because of him.the hospitals need to look into there docters better before they higher them.i would never trust him.and he needs to be sued for malpractice

This doctor shouldnt have a license. Very unethical

Dr Adams was concise and extremely on time everyday. His bedside manor was so warm I didnt have to hold back my fears of my health. Any concerns were addresed on the spot. I never saw another side or face to Dr Adams besides and caring and compassionate.

He and his PA shouldnt be allowed to treat humans.
