Worst Doctor I have ever seen. I had Medicare Advantage and he spent at least 30 min questioning me about my insurance. I guess he was afraid it wouldnt pay This was not his job but the clerical staffs job to verify insurance. I couldnt believe it. I had previously been diagnosed with stage 4 liver disease but he scoffed that off saying how did I know for sure that was correct? My files had been sent to him so I asked him if he even looked at them? Blank stare. He acted like he didnt know what he was doing and was very rude. His staff rushed me through and were not pleasant like most office staff are everywhere else. I left there fully disgusted vowing not to go back. Shortly after I was taken to Tampa General Hospital for a Liver Transplant Please stay away from this guy. I dont even want to call him a doctor.
This is the worst Dr office I’ve ever dealt with and as a person who has Crohn’s, auto immune problems, and has beat cancer I’ve seen a lot of doctors. The staff was pushy for me to make an appointment even though I told them I didn’t want one because I choose holistic care for my treatment they called me several times to schedule the appointment. When I gave in and came to the office it took 15 min with the doctor to have him tell me I was in the wrong place and he couldn’t hep me. Which I had already told them several times prior to the visit. I was then billed $250 for a new patient appointment even though I told them I didn’t need to come and am in fact not a new patient. They even refused to accept the $100 my insurance paid and reduce the balance remaining. Would give 0 stars if I could!!!! I wasn’t even referred to the correct type of Dr that I was seeking he told me to google one.
I had a endoscopy and a colonoscopy procedure scheduled with Dr Amontree, when the surgery center called to tell me my time of procedure I called the drs office to ask for the prep instructions three days before my procedure, I left several voice mails asking for this information. Never got a return call with the proper prep instructions so I cancelled the procedure appointment. Still no return call from the drs nurse. They do not answer their phone or return calls.I do not recommend this Drs office.Worse bedside manner ever!Update: I received a call back from the office woman, @ 4:30 pm ( 14 hours before my procedure) she said she knows for a fact that Amanda ( the nurse) gave me the prep instructions, yes !! She did but she gave me instructions for the drink prep not the pill prep that the doctor prescribed. There was nothing stated for what time to start the prep or if I could or could not take meds that morning or the night before. This office person was extremely rude and more concerned with unloading on me about how she is only one person and can’t do everything like answer the phone or return phone calls or messages, check patients in and room patients.I do not recommend Dr Amontree.Needless to say I cancelled that procedure and now seeing a professional gastro practice.
Very Poor. If you are on oxygen I would stay as far away from this person (I refuse to call him a doctor) as you can. Horrible excuse for someone who states he practices medicine. Stated in his opinion that I was not a good candidate for a procedure that would put me out for 30 minutes. When I gave him the name of a doctor who could well verify that I was a good candidate, he would not even take down this information. He left me with the impression that he was more concerned about what "cold happen" to him than my health needs. Worse medical person I have ever been to.
I can't express how grateful we are that you were able to see us on such notice. It's very comforting to know that you continue to be so caring to your patients. We've been with you for 25 years or so and your professionalism and competence have never wavered.
My father has been dealing with diarrhea and abdominal pain for the last several months and has been in and out of Fawcett. He saw Dr. Amontree a couple times previously and was supposed to get scoped. This excuse for a GI doctor was supposed to scope him while in the hospital but instead gave him his business card and told him to come to his office. 4 months later and multiple hospital admissions later he was finally scheduled to get the scope only for this "doctor" to cancel at the last minute and give him another business card to come to his office and that his pain was most likely nerve pain from his back. He didn't even notify the hospital that he cancelled. 2 days later another GI doctor did the scope and turns out my father has chronic pancreatitis!! This "doctor" is a hack and only wanted the money to come to his clinic. Pathetic!
He is old and grumpy for 62. I asked why my changes in bowl movements and he said he was not interested in my changes.
1st if all my husband was referred to him by his primary doctor. When in the office with the doctor, he asks my husband, “What can I do you for”? We were a little confused at this question. Stated he has never met him (my husband) before. Well, Duh... this was his 1st visit. Then he proceeds to say that he has another patient in the next room, I’ll go and attend to that patient!. He had no paperwork with him or anything to write notes down. He was just a jerk! No bedside manner. It was if the office picked some guy off the side of the road and put a white dr’s coat on this person and told him go act like you are a doctor!

Awful. He isn't nice. He also has had me running around in circles when I have been extremely sick. I am getting a new GI Dr.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
