Stephen Chiarello's Online Review Report Card

My exam felt like an autopsy. Dr. Chiarello is an old -school doctor who's clearly past retirement age (70+ years old). He did't fix my issue! When I called to make the appointment, it took days until I got to see him despite being very uncomfortable prior to the visit. There were just so many flaws in this visit. I scheduled an appointment about severe itching and an allergic reaction to some kind of recurring bite (which he denied being a bite in the first place). We never even got to the source of my concern. Two other issues he mentioned were 1) my ears and 2) my skin, but no instructions on what to do about it. It really felt like he was performing an autopsy on me while speaking aloud to his assistant who was taking notes, instead of speaking to me directly. After I realized he wasn't going to offer me any help, I requested "something" (anything!) as he was saying his goodbyes, and and only then did he then prescribe some anti-itch cream. I clearly believe Dr. Chiarello has had no new schooling in the last 30-40 years so his practice is based on the education he learned in the 1980s and 90s. I will likely go to a younger, more aggressive, modern dermatologist next time who's up to par with the most current and latest medical knowledge. His clinic is in the Promenades Mall. That should have been my clue!

He is nuts. He hardly spoke about the issue I made the appt for. Just kept talking about how I should get healthy and take vitamins. He has a bunch of different kinds of vitamins and supplements in his office. Started going on about my ear lobes and how because they were attached to my head I may end up with heart disease. Asked me about my family and their health. He even said "you might think I'm nuts but I have a lot of experience", he preceded to tell me about his experiences in medicine. I felt like I was on Candid Camera. I also waited almost an hour and there were only a couple of patients there. It was a very weird experience. I talked to myself about him all the way to the car.....out loud.

I have now gone to Dr. Chiarello for the past fifteen years, and have had many, many procedures done for my skin cancer. It is not only that his diagnostic expertise has been superb, but his ability to address tough, intricate skin surgeries has shown his equal to the finest plastic surgeons available here or in California. He is a no nonsense physician with the experience demanded for these types of intricate medical concerns. This is hands down the best dermatologist I’ve ever seen. He has a broad foundation of knowledge and is a fine surgeon. I’ve had skin cancers treated at other offices throughout my life with disappointing results. There is a big difference in the care and expertise in this office. Dr Chiarello explains what you need to know and everyone in his office gives you the caring support you need. I’ve had cancers removed that could have looked terrible in anyone else’s hands and you wouldn’t even know I had surgery after healing with Dr Chiarello. He cares what the result will be for you. A true master dermatologist. I highly recommend Dr Stephen Chiarello for all your dermatology needs.

Pay no attention to any negative reviews. My husband and I have gone to Dr. Chiarello for years. I have had numerous lesions removed even from the middle of my face - no scars whatsoever. He is thorough, answers questions and has a calm bedside manner that puts you at ease before any procedures. Staff is very friendly and accommodating as well.

Dr. Chiarello is incredibly knowledgeable and highly skilled. His staff is excellent and very professional. He has treated me on several occasions for various conditions and has always exceeded expectations. These days, it is hard to find a doctor who cares about his patients. But Dr. Chiarello is truly one who does. Thank you!
